Role

We are a dedicated hard working team of trustees and volunteers who own and manage our local community centre in the heart of our town. We are looking for an enthusiastic community minded individual who will support our centre users, volunteers and trustees to meet the Vision for our centre.

This is a two part role –most importantly to ensure that the building is compliant and fit for use on a daily basis and secondly to meet the requirements of all users coming into the building whether for activities, meetings, enquiries or other. We are very much seeking a people orientated, practical minded and grounded individual.

The Main Duties and Responsibilities

H&S and Compliance elements:

  1. Ensure health and safety procedures are robust and that risk assessments and safe systems of work are up to date and amended as required. This includes weekly checks on fire systems and fire drills, water safety, hygiene, and any other safety requirements (training will be provided where required)
  2. Carry out minor repairs and decorating tasks where appropriate and time allows and support volunteers carrying out these tasks
  3. Lead on the day to day management and administration of the building facilities, ensuring that the building is fit for purpose
  4. Monitor and check contractor work and report back to the Trust on the progress of the tasks.
  5. Report any concerns on the health, safety and safety of the building to the Trustees (H&S lead Trustee) immediately.

Facilities Day to Day Operations:

  1. Firstly and foremost ensure groups and users are welcomed into the Centre and their requirements listened to and provided for. Assist with the provision of equipment and room set up where appropriate. Ensure they are updated on housekeeping rules, toilet facilities, fire escapes routes and first aid requirements.
  2. Make and accept bookings for users and groups in person, via email or by phone. Update the booking system, confirming payment details and support other staff and volunteers in doing so.
  3. Treat all members of the public, volunteers, colleagues equally, fairly and respectfully in all aspects of the role and maintain a professional manner at all times.
  4. Support staff members, placements, and volunteers. And provide support and direction to these members of staff/volunteers to ensure they understand their roles and contribute to achieving TCDT’s objectives.
  5. Promote the centre’s spaces and facilities to ensure the centre’s customer base is strengthened and that commercial opportunities are recognised
  6. Be an effective Ambassador for the organisation at all times.
  7. Complete appropriate workplace training identified by the Trust as required.
  8. Report any concerns regarding the facilities, users, staff or volunteers to the Trust (Chair or Vice Chair) immediately.

You will have:

Previous experience of community development and/or community engagement

Enthusiasm, be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team

Initiative to solve problems and raise potential issues

Proficiency in Microsoft packages and the use of Apps.

Flexibility in your approach to work to meet changing service delivery needs, deadlines, and urgent priorities

An ability to work flexibly within the community and meet the requirements of users.

Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, and work well with people at all levels with a positive approach to problem-solving.

Consideration to the use of resources available to the centre and maximise opportunities for most efficient use of them.
