Role

As the Project Accountant for Sustrans in Scotland, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with our Programme Heads, Managers and Finance colleagues, to address both budget and cashflow challenges associated with forecasting future demand, balancing existing funding commitments with anticipated funds available.

You will provide leadership, expertise, support and guidance on financial planning, analysis and projection of the capital infrastructure grant funding, to allow Sustrans Scotland deliver their programmes effectively.

  • You will be expected to develop and implement management reporting to meet the needs of a range of internal colleagues and external partners, ensuring it is clear to a non-financial audience. This will include but is not limited to:
  • Managing a multi-million pound infrastructure grant programme.
  • Providing clear commentary and analysis tailored to a non-finance audience on the complexities in managing a capital grants programme.
  • Providing clear reporting and analysis that covers both financial year and multi-year project lifecycles.

This role can be based form home, with the opportunity to work in one of our hubs. Some travel will be expected to Edinburgh on occasion.

About you

A qualified accountant, you will have relevant previous experience in project accounting with engineering / capital infrastructure programmes.

You will be an excellent communicator, build relationships easily and use these skills to advise, guide and support at a senior level.

You should hold strong financial data analysis and modelling experience and have built financial models to undertake “what-if” scenario planning to aid decision-making.
