Role

Glasgow Association for Mental Health is one of the principal providers of community mental health services in Greater Glasgow. It aims to provide high quality support both to those who are experiencing mental health difficulties and to their carers. GAMH is committed to the principles of Recovery and to raising the awareness and understanding of Mental Health issues.

GAMH are commissioned by the Glasgow Carers Partnership to deliver support to carers through our two Carers Centres in the West and South West of the city.

The Carers Centres provide inclusive and holistic support to carers to maintain their quality of life and improve their health and wellbeing through the provision of an Adult Carers Support Plan which is person centred, coordinated, and outcome focussed on the needs of the carer.

Our carer support services promote choice, control and independence, tailoring solutions to carers’ specific needs as far as possible and connecting them with their community.

GAMH, as part of the Glasgow Carers Partnership, works closely with the Social Work Carer Support Teams which are located in each of the 3 sectors of the city to ensure carers can access the right support at the right time in their caring journey from early intervention and diagnosis to crisis and emergencies.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the values and attitude required to work with people who are living with mental health problems and who may have complex needs.

Knowledge of the SSSC’s Codes of Practice and the National Care Standards and how this framework applies to practice is preferred for all posts. A qualification at SVQ3 or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification is essential.

All applicants must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working will be required. Full induction and training will be provided.

GAMH aims to promote equality of opportunity in service delivery as well as in employment practice. To achieve this, we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. Accordingly if you have any particular requirements regarding your application please contact Pauline Stewart, on 0141 552 5592.

These posts are regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An offer of work with Glasgow Association for Mental Health will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory.
