Adult Carers Support Worker

  • 12 hours per week, hours are flexible apart from a commitment to working 5.30pm and 8.30pm on the last Wednesday of the month to facilitate our adult carers support group. Salary: £24,012 pro rata (actual salary £8,004). Term: Fixed term to January 2025. Annual Leave: 32 days in year one, increasing to 37 in year two (pro rata). This includes some set public holidays and two week closure at Christmas. Pension: 5% Employers contribution.

We do this by nurturing, supporting and inspiring people of all ages so that lives are fuller, potential is fulfilled and community connections flourish.

We have 30 years’ experience of working with and supporting Adult Carers in South West Edinburgh.

We work in an integrated manner with the Edinburgh Health Social Care Partnership Integrated Carers Team, health professionals from the Carer Support Hospital Discharge Team and other third sector organisations in the city.

Our aim is to identify and support adult carers, providing advice, information, peer support groups, one to one support and signposting carers to access further services on offer across the city.

The Role

We are recruiting for a part time Support Worker to join our expending Adult Carers team, to continue our work of improving the health, wellbeing and personal development of Adult Carers in the South West of Edinburgh via access to person centred support.

We are looking for someone with prior experience of working with individuals and in groups, working towards positive outcomes in a way which assesses need, addresses issues and is imaginative and empowering for people.

The support worker will work in conjunction with the Adult Carers Project Worker to:

· Provide information and advice to carers which is person centred and sensitive to their individual situation

· Complete adult carer support plans

· Facilitate carers and peer support groups

· Liaise with networks e.g. Link Workers and GPs to help identify carers who are particularly isolated

· Assist carers with financial assessments to access financial support, grants and benefits

· Maintain case records and details of all carer contact, keeping internal database updated

· Collaborate with Space Young Adult Carer Services to ensure a smooth transition to Adult Carers services and continuity of support

The post is for 12 hours per week, the hours can be flexible across the week apart from a commitment to working 5.30pm and 8.30pm on the last Wednesday of the month to facilitate our adult carers support group.
