Who we are?

KCASS part of Adoption UK, aims to improve outcomes for Kinship Care families, delivering a service that offers advice to families, supports children and young people living in kinship care, supports kinship carers with events and training, provides direction and leadership to organisations that support kinship families and raises awareness and celebrates the difference kinship families are making through Kinship Care Week.

What you’ll be doing

As the Kinship communities officer working 20 hours per week, you will have the exiting opportunity to develop a planned programme of community activities, training, workshops and events for Kinship carers, their children and families

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a committed and motivated team and make a difference to kinship families.

You will

• Develop and deliver community group activities throughout Scotland, consulting with kinship families and volunteers to develop peer-led and relevant programmes to the community

• Develop training materials, resources and factsheet for kinship families

• Provide helpline information, guidance and support

• Contribute to newsletter, social media and website content

• Provide administration support

Who you are

Using your creativity and people skills, you will enjoy networking with others to ensure the activities and events you plan benefit the kinship community, you will also

• Able to meet the criteria in the candidate pack

• Be able to demonstrate activities, events or similar that you have planned or organised.

• knowledge of the issues, challenges and concerns affecting kinship carers, their children, and families

• Be able to demonstrate ability to work in partnership with other organisations.

• Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the value of peer to peer support groups.

What we offer

This contract is permanent, working 20 hours per week and attracts a salary of £23,529 per annum (pro-rata).

The office is based in Edinburgh, and there is the opportunity for hybrid working arrangements.
