Role

Sacro’s Mission is to create safe and cohesive communities by reducing conflict and offending.

Aditi offers one-to-one wellbeing, support and advice for Black and Asian ethnic minority women living in Edinburgh who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic abuse or ‘honour’ based violence.

In close partnership with Multi Cultural Family Base, Sacro are looking to recruit an advocacy worker to help empower people to know their rights and communicate their needs to those they live with, extended family and support agencies. We believe that an advocacy approach can, in certain circumstances, help to prevent escalation and assist parties to gain understanding and improve familial relationships.

We are looking for a female advocacy worker from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds to deliver a service within Sacro’s Aditi Women’s Well-being service. You must have experience of cross-cultural work, be an effective communicator in English as well as in another language prevalent in Scotland’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, be highly organised and have effective casework management skills.

Primary responsibilities will be to carry a caseload within the Aditi team.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of advocacy and conflict resolution and also have group work experience and an in-depth understanding of gender based violence as well as be an excellent communicator. Good organisational skills, including casework management, report writing and IT skills are essential, as is a flexible approach.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement for the post.
