Role

At Volunteering Matters, we use the unique power of volunteering to bring people together, build stronger, more resilient communities across the UK and solve some of society’s most complex issues. From social isolation and loneliness, to improving health and wellbeing, to building skills, confidence and opportunity, and to ensuring young people can become change-makers in their community; the impact that we have is great. And we won’t stop until everyone in the UK has the opportunity to thrive.

People-led and impact driven, we are a national charity that is deeply embedded in local areas across the UK. We operate in regional hubs across Scotland, England and Wales. We turn local knowledge and energy into action and progress, building stronger communities and a better future for all.

Our newly formed Enterprise Directorate is the entrepreneurial arm of Volunteering Matters which provides commercially viable products and services to a range of UK leading businesses. We currently have two established and distinct products and services; our Employee Volunteering Service and our separate Social Enterprise, Get The Gen. Our ambition is to grow both brands in terms of reach, clients and income and to add to our current portfolio of products and services as we grow.

Get The Gen (GTG): GTG is a training and consultancy Social Enterprise created to help businesses with issues around recruitment, retention and development of a multi-generational workforce starting from young people up. GTG use evidence-based insights to deliver immersive, interactive, and fast paced workshops online and in person that create lasting individual and group change. We are trusted by over 60 leading UK and Global businesses including; The Natwest Group, The Law Society of Scotland, KPMG, Brodies, Burness Paull, Skills Development Scotland and Aegon amongst others.

We are a worthwhile, fun, interesting, challenging, team orientated, collaborative and rewarding place to work!

Due to a new partnership between Get The Gen and Challenges Worldwide, we are currently recruiting for an Employee Engagement Manager based in Edinburgh.

Role Purpose:

We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Employer Engagement Manager to join our team in Scotland. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrate an understanding and total commitment to our organisational values.

We are working in partnership with Challenges Worldwide to deliver a programme called “Making Work Work” for Women Returners. Making Work Work encompasses a range of bespoke programmes based on a peer-led, supportive online learning environment, complemented by workshops, masterclasses, mentoring, and post-programme support, with the opportunity for accreditation by the Chartered Management Institute. Its purpose is to empower people to find work that is both fulfilling and meaningful.

The programme has been devised by Lynn Houmdi at our partner for this programme, Challenges Worldwide to contribute to more positive and productive workplace cultures, where people are able to contribute in a way which fits with their lifestyles and commitments. Making Work Work was successfully piloted for Women Returners in February and March 2021. At the end of the pilot programme, women reported increased confidence, felt better prepared and more confident for re-entering and progressing in employment and had increased knowledge and understanding of the benefits to both worker and employer of flexible working. They had also developed a new, supportive peer-support network and gained a broader network of contacts to help in their job search.

As our Employer Engagement Manager, you will work closely with all partners involved in the Making Work Work programme, helping to ensure the programme continues to be a success. Your role will be to manage employer engagement with the programme for up to 20 employers, including initial approach, outreach and project management throughout our time working with them on this. You will monitor contacts, relationships and ensure any other required information is co-ordinated effectively with all employers engaged in the programme.

We are a values-driven organisation, and are looking for someone who is compassionate, empowering, straightforward, inclusive and positive, to support the delivery of the Making Work Work programme and all those involved in it.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and ambitious team within a new and exciting programme based in Edinburgh.
