Shine Women’s Mentoring Service is a national service providing mentoring support to women in the justice system, currently serving a short-term prison sentence; remanded into custody or subject of a Community Payback Order and who choose to engage and work with Shine. Support needs of women in the justice system vary enormously, examples include drug and alcohol misuse, experience of abusive and or exploitative relationships, physical and mental issues often alongside chaotic lifestyles resulting from past traumatic experiences.

The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of Shining on, Shine Women’s Mentoring’s new pilot project. The post holder will have a role in developing Shining On nationally incrementally, with the service being initially launched in the Forth Valley area. The aim of Shining On is to provide ongoing support to women beyond the 6 months of formal mentoring Shine currently provides. Shining On will be delivered to women by volunteers, recruited and managed by the post holder. Their aim is to provide further support and encouragement to women continue on their positive journey, building self esteem and reintegration back in to the community, moving further away from offending behaviours. Knowledge of the justice system and experience of working with women within it is desirable. Experience of coordinating and developing services is also desirable.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required along with experience of inter - agency working. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is essential.

A relevant qualification is desirable but is not essential.
