Role

Waverley Care are recruiting a Peer Support Coordinator to pilot an innovative new approach to peer support in Glasgow, specifically for people who use drugs who are living with a blood borne virus (BBV), either hepatitis C or HIV or both.

The successful candidate will join us at a crucial time in our history as we work towards hepatitis C elimination, zero HIV transmissions and improved sexual health for all in Scotland.

The Peer Support Coordinator will recruit, train and supervise peer supporters with lived experience of drug misuse and/or of living with a BBV to enable them to support our service users who are living similar lives. The aim of the role is to make sure anyone living with a BBV in Glasgow can access peer support if they so wish, to support them to be cured of hepatitis C or to live well with HIV.

The Peer Support Coordinator will also facilitate a new peer support group for people who use drugs who are living with HIV as part of the Glasgow HIV outbreak in Glasgow city centre – for more information, see waverleycare.org/HIVappeal.

We are looking for a highly engaged and motivated individual with a passion for improving the lives of people affected by blood borne viruses. If that sounds like you then we would love to hear from you. In return, we offer a supportive and valuing work environment with encouragement to develop personally and professionally.
