Our education and employment services are core to what we do at Helm. Key responsibilities in the role include:

• Key Worker to your own caseload of young people, working effectively to build their knowledge and skills in numeracy and support and progress them to a sustainable progression.

• Ensure set targets and outcomes are met relating to your caseload and contractual requirements in programme delivery.

• Assess young people’s skills and identify their needs and support required in order to produce an individual training plan, which is agreed and understood by them.

• Plan and organise a range of individual or group activities (in-house/outside) to best support the needs of young people.

• Resource, prepare and deliver training, obtaining feedback from young people to assess programme effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Bridges Project is a leading youth work charity that helps young people aged 12-25 in East Lothian and Midlothian overcome challenges and adapt to adulthood. For nearly 40 years, we have helped young people develop their life skills, improve their educational attainment and move into employment or further education.

We have a vacancy for a GIRFEC Support Worker to provide bespoke, individually tailored support packages to 17 young people per year who have been identified as not engaging in or coping with mainstream school. The post holder will provide a mixture of one to one intervention and group learning to young people, including support in areas such as wellbeing, personal and emotional development and employability. The successful candidate will support young people to gain employability skills, life skills and accreditation; helping them in to work, apprenticeships, further education or vocational training. They will deliver the service as agreed with East Lothian Council, Inclusion and Wellbeing.

It is essential that candidates have a full, clean driving licence and constant use of a car. Membership of the PVG scheme will be an essential requirement of the post. The post is funded by East Lothian Council. A contributory company pension scheme is offered with a 10% employer contribution.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an extensive experience of teaching ESOL for the position of development worker for our ESOL in the Community Project. Your role will be to develop partnerships, support sessional ESOL tutors and support the delivery of SQA accredited and non-accredited ESOL courses in Glasgow. You will develop our community-based ESOL provision by maintaining and developing good relationships with our partners, our tutors and our learners.

All applicants will be educated to degree level, or equivalent and have an ESOL qualification (CELTA or equivalent) and have experience in teaching adults, both in-person and online.

Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) is Scotland’s national resource of expertise on drugs and related issues. We seek to lead and represent the drugs field in Scotland to improve Scotland’s response to problem drug use. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a busy, dynamic, and supportive team within a national third sector organisation.

We are pleased to be recruiting for two part time positions of Assessment and Development Worker to lead all areas of SVQ Assessment for our SQA approved Learning Centre.

Working primarily, but not exclusively with participants from our award-winning Addiction Worker Training Project (AWTP), these roles will join the employability and qualifications team in SDF, at an exciting time of growth and change.

We are seeking qualified SVQ Assessors with experience of delivering training who can ensure that people with lived and living experience of drug and alcohol problems are well supported through their vocational qualification journey with the SDF Learning Centre.

The Assessment and Development Workers will support up to 20 trainees each, working towards Social Services and Healthcare SVQs, while supporting the Centre to develop and deliver high quality SVQ training for the drug and alcohol workforce. They will contribute to the further development of our enhanced skills SVQ programme and play a key role in the delivery of training sessions to equip Candidates with the knowledge required for SVQ.

The Assessment and Development Worker posts are a key part of our Qualifications delivery in SDF and will contribute towards the wider work of the AWTP Project Support Team. With support from the Programme Manager and Lead Internal Verifier, the roles will join an established freelance Assessment team which may offer opportunities to maximise income through additional assessment work.
