MULTICULTURAL FAMILY BASE is a unique, community based social work centre based in Edinburgh. Approximately 50% of our workforce are from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.

The organisation’s key objective is to support Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic individuals, children and parents deal with important transition points - this can be the birth of a child, the move into primary school or the move to Edinburgh for families who are new migrants. In addition, we combine our service delivery with student learning by providing high quality and diverse placement opportunities for social work students from academic institutions across Scotland.

We are now seeking a Practice Educator Manager and Coordinator.

The purpose of the post is to work with the team of Project Leaders to support MCFB's Chief Executive Officer; to manage a small service delivery team of Project Workers and to take responsibility for the delivery, co-ordination, implementation, and development of practice education within MCFB. We are also a social work training organisation, which means we have students from a variety of universities come through our doors each year. We pride ourselves on helping to shape the next generation of social workers in best practices when working with BAME communities. This role will supervise our student social worker cohorts in their learning and professional development.

The qualified candidate will have:

1) Diploma in Social Work or another relevant professional qualification

2) Minimum of 2 years’ post qualifying experience

3) Practice Teaching Award/Practice Education Certificate

4) Experience of supervising Social Work students

5) Statutory childcare experience

6) Experience of working in the area of child protection

7) Knowledge of the challenges and needs of children & families from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds

8) The ability to demonstrate a knowledge of social work theory

9) An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practice and user participation
