MULTICULTURAL FAMILY BASE is a unique, community based social work centre based in Edinburgh. Approximately 50% of our workforce are from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.

We are now seeking qualified, skilled and motivated individuals to join our team.
The Bright Choices Project offers practical and emotional support and advice to women, children and men from Black and Minority Ethnic communities who are experiencing, or at risk of, Honour-Based Violence (HBV), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other harmful practices relating to cultural belief systems and pressures.
You will have experience of group and individual work with people affected by HBV who are likely to experience disadvantage or discrimination due to their race, ethnicity or cultural backgrounds.
You will be engaging service users in group work and will have knowledge of the key issues as well as relevant experience of working within a therapeutic, community development role in 1:1 setting.
You will be facilitating Creative Nurture Group in collaboration with an Art Therapist once a week, working with women affected by HBV.
The qualified candidate will have:
1) Diploma in Social Work or another relevant professional qualification;
2) Knowledge of the challenges and needs of children, individuals & families from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds;
3) An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practice and user participation. The posts require membership of the PVG Scheme.

The Early Years Service of Multi-Cultural Family Base is looking for a Mandarin speaking Project Worker to join a small multi-disciplinary team.
Your role will involve co-facilitating a support group for vulnerable Mandarin/Cantonese speaking parents/carers and their infants/young children in a community venue (Leith), focusing on perinatal and infant mental health and attachment relationships.
Your role will also involve working with identified families (home-based, outdoors, community settings) supporting them with a range challenges, including additional support needs, mental health and parenting, whilst working collaboratively with key professionals.
This post is initially funded until March 2024 but it is hoped that it may be extended beyond this date. Additional hours may also become available depending on the availability of future funding.

We are now seeking a Practice Educator Manager and Coordinator.
The purpose of the post is to work with the team of Project Leaders to support MCFB's Chief Executive Officer; to manage a small service delivery team of Project Workers and to take responsibility for the delivery, co-ordination, implementation, and development of practice education within MCFB. We are also a social work training organisation, which means we have students from a variety of universities come through our doors each year. We pride ourselves on helping to shape the next generation of social workers in best practices when working with BAME communities. This role will supervise our student social worker cohorts in their learning and professional development.
The qualified candidate will have:
1) Diploma in Social Work or another relevant professional qualification
2) Minimum of 2 years’ post qualifying experience
3) Practice Teaching Award/Practice Education Certificate
4) Experience of supervising Social Work students
5) Statutory childcare experience
6) Experience of working in the area of child protection
7) Knowledge of the challenges and needs of children & families from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds
8) The ability to demonstrate a knowledge of social work theory
9) An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practice and user participation

MCFB is seeking a qualified, skilled and motivated individual to provide individual and group work interventions for vulnerable and disadvantaged families from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic backgrounds, with infants and children under the age of 4, who are experiencing difficulties, in order to promote the family’s well-being and positive relationships.
You will have a relevant professional qualification (or equivalent practice experience) and have experience of individual and/or group work with infants and young children within the 0 to 3 age range and their parents/family, as well as knowledge of attachment, infant mental health and child development with particular reference to cross-cultural issues. You will have experience of creative approaches to promoting positive perinatal and infant mental health to work cross-culturally with diverse families, with a strong commitment to anti-oppressive practice are also essential. The post requires membership of the PVG Scheme.

You will have a degree level education or equivalent practice experience. You will have experience of working with BAME and refugee children and families, in both individual and groupwork settings. You will also have experience of working within a counselling, community development or social care/ work role and have sound knowledge and understanding of the impact of migration and trauma. A strong commitment to anti-oppressive practice are also essential. The post requires membership of the PVG Scheme.
