Live in Support Worker

Role

Our team in East Lothian works with younger adults, supporting them as they take steps towards greater independence, and we are looking for someone to join the team. Our new live-in support works one week on, one week off living in someone's home to support them with all aspects of their daily living. (Seven consecutive days, followed by seven consecutive days when you are not required to work)

We are looking for people who are caring, fun, motivated, creative and great at problem-solving. The people we support want workers who are friendly, practically minded and are great communicators.

Note:For each working day you will work between the hours of 7am-11pm with a two-hour unpaid break (14 hours total over 7 days). These working hours will be immediately followed by a sleepover between 11pm and 7am (8 hours).

Requirements

Our team in East Lothian supports younger people taking steps towards greater independence such as moving into their own tenancies. Typical activities of live-in support include assisting with household chores, cooking, assisting with finances, completing paperwork, encouraging hobbies and interests, medication administration and providing personal care.

The people who use our services want support workers who are friendly and can help them pursue their goals and live fulfilling lives.

Candidates must be great communicators and problem solvers, and be fully committed to The Action Group’s values of equality, inclusion and opportunity for all. No experience or formal qualifications are necessary as paid training is provided. Many of our support workers go on to complete formal qualifications in social care.
