Communications and Events Lead

  • Circa £28,000 – £30,000
  • Hybrid / remote working will be considered and we have offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow but will involve some travel across Scotland as required.

Role

The purpose of the job is to support the organisation to share its purpose, vision and mission to grow its reach through working with our Marketing & Design Lead and Director of Operations & Projects to deliver excellent and engaging communications and events that promote and support our work.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Create and manage a communications strategy for Social Enterprise Scotland, alongside the Marketing and Design Lead and the Director of Services.
  • Manage the inputs, contributions and sign off from the team and volunteers for our member communications (currently a weekly mailer via MailChimp or our CRM system).
  • Draft and distribute regular themed marketing and promotional emails to members.
  • Prepare and send Press Releases on behalf of the organisation, coordinating with contributors and wider stakeholders for quotes and inputs where required
  • Contribute content to regular SES publications/website/blogs as required.
  • Monitor, collate and share data on digital analytics to contribute to management reporting, effectiveness, and learning.
  • Contribute to the annual business planning process and longer term strategic planning in relation to Communications & Events
  • Alongside the Marketing and Design lead, manage, monitor and analyse website content
  • Support the Marketing and Design lead to manage, plan, schedule and implement social media and digital campaigns when necessary. This would include the use of scheduling tools (e.g. Sprout Social) as well as design tools (e.g. Canva, inDesign) as well as proofreading and signing off draft social media posts.

EVENTS COMMUNICATIONS & SUPPORT

  • Support the conception, planning and management of in-person events of which this would include our annual Awards, the Social Enterprise conference, and our AGM as well as smaller events such as ongoing CPGs, SELAG, SEN manager meetings and any events in partnership with others. This includes a wide range of responsibilities including coordinating venue, catering, invitations, managing attendees and administration and management of the event on the day.
  • Work with members of the SES team to liaise with panellists and contributors before and after events
  • Add upcoming event listings and associated communications to the website and CRM system
  • Set up webinars on zoom and share links to sessions with team and panellists as required, in line with security and data policy
  • Support live streaming/filming of events, including post-event uploading and distribution
  • Send post-event follow ups with video recordings links, slide shares and thank you emails to attendees, panellists, and contributors.
  • Design content for leaflets, programmes and related marketing for events
  • Create and manage any branded icons or templates where required

CAMPAIGNS

  • Support the Marketing and Design Lead with any ongoing social media or wider marketing campaigns where required

WEBSITE & DESIGN

Work with the Marketing and Design lead in creating a tone of voice and brand guidelines document to support the wider team

Support the Marketing and Design Lead in website content updates where required, and in implementing a larger update of content, navigation and design.

ADDITIONAL

  • Manage SES volunteers and interns where their work inputs directly to the Marketing & Communications team
  • Demonstrate commitment to the social enterprise movement and community wealth building across Scotland.
  • Contribute towards a culture that is open, fair, collaborative, respectful, honest, and enterprising.
  • At all times, work pro-actively to promote SES's equal opportunities policies, both in respect of service delivery and employment issues; and to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the post holder, colleagues, members, and visitors.
  • Cover for colleagues when necessary.
  • Other such duties as shall be required reasonably as part of a collaborative staff team.
