It happens every five minutes in the UK and changes lives instantly. Recovery is tough, but with the right specialist support and a ton of courage and determination, the brain can adapt.

We are looking for a Communications Officer to support our team in Scotland to respond to Scottish media enquiries, delivering campaigns to influence health policy and support our fundraising and engagement comms activity.

Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.
• Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to key health board stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.
• Working with the Stories team to identify and deploy the real stories of the stroke survivors we work for.

You will have experience of:

• Generating media coverage in Scotland, ideally in the charity sector.
• Using media to deliver calls to action to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policy change).
• Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives.
• Working alongside Policy and Public Affairs colleagues.
• Creating, posting, and managing social media content.
• Reputation management and working with crisis communications teams.
• Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies) and developing stories to deliver media coverage.

This role requires occasional travel across the UK to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement of the role.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Income Generation and Engagement Team as a CRM Database Coordinator!

As a CRM Database Coordinator, you will support the promotion of all CHAS supporter activities and products by developing cost effective marketing across all channels and maximising value from existing and potential supporters.

You will be part of a small team providing specialist technical expertise in the day-to-day running and management of the CRM and the relevant processes and procedures which allow the smooth management of data and financial information.

About you

• You will have demonstrable knowledge of CRM Databases, Excel and Microsoft Office Software Applications.
• An enthusiasm for data, with significant experience in the coordination and administration of databases and working knowledge of GDPR
• Relevant industry qualifications, with demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development.
• Highly effective team working skills, with an ability to collaborate with others and develop strong and effective working relationships across the organisation.

• City & Guilds Energy Awareness L3 or equivalent (this can be provided for the successful candidate)
• Experience in delivering face to face advice, providing fuel advocacy support & advice
• Up to date knowledge & understanding across all areas of energy advice provision
• Understanding of the issues facing deprived communities
• Up to date knowledge & understanding across all areas of wider advice provision (welfare/employability)
• Ability to foster collective working between organisations, building & maintaining relationships with strategic partners & external organisations

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this post, and you will require to have previous experience in information delivery, as well as good IT and organisational skills. Previous experience working in oncology, haematology, clinical research, or a healthcare environment would be an advantage for this role.

As a Myeloma Information Specialist you will provide a range of information and support on myeloma and related conditions to anyone affected by myeloma including patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.

You will be part of the team on the Myeloma UK Infoline, taking calls and responding to queries, and assisting in the development and monitoring of the Infoline and related services including Ask the Nurse and our Peer Network. You will require to develop an awareness of research and clinical developments and other initiatives in the field of myeloma and related conditions.
