About the role
A new and exciting opportunity to work with us is here to deliver the fundraising and income generation strategy in Scotland. You will work closely with colleagues to understand why funding is needed and grow and diversify our income.
You will work collaboratively with our Project Pipeline Manager and Business Development & Fundraising Coordinator to identify and activate cross-programme opportunities (internal and external).
As the Fundraising and Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for implementing the fundraising and supporter engagement strategy in Scotland and delivering income generation, predominantly through approaches to trusts and foundations and extending UK wide campaigns to audiences in Scotland. You will be expected to deliver unrestricted income, transformational gifts from trusts, foundations and other partners, capitalising on Sustrans assets such as the National Cycle Network or Paths for Everyone stream.
We offer true hybrid working, a flexible mix of working from home and occasional travel to a nearby office hub in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
About you
With a proven track record in fundraising and income generation, you will use your knowledge of the Scottish fundraising landscape to identify projects/programmes for funding and implement plans to bring a viable pipeline to fruition through bids to statutory funders as well as trusts and foundations.
We will look for evidence of your experience of leading relationships with funding bodies and trusts and of working directly with a business development function.
You will build relationships easily, using your excellent communication skills to influence and negotiate with funders and potential donors.
You should have experience of leading, motivating and managing a team.
We ask you demonstrate your knowledge of relevant legislation, commissions and best practice relating to fundraising and income generation.
We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups. Sustrans has a long-term commitment to being a charity for everyone - reducing inequality, valuing diversity, enabling inclusion and ensuring all people are treated with dignity and respect.
