Role

Values into Action Scotland (VIAS) is recruiting for the role of Lead Consultant (Job Coach) based at the DFN Project SEARCH University of Aberdeen programme.

You will contribute to the success of an award-winning employment-focussed employability programme with the aim of supporting young people aged 16-24 with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum conditions into work.

This will include providing job coaching support to interns and their supervisors in work placements and/or in employment settings, co-ordinating family network interactions e.g. Employment Planning Meetings & social events and monitoring, supporting and reporting on interns’ progress and development throughout the programme.

Background

DFN Project SEARCH is an international transition to work programme committed to transforming the lives of young people. It provides real-life work experience, combined with training in employability and independent-living skills, to young people with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum conditions who want to go on to find employment.

Values Into Action Scotland is a Quality Improvement Service. Our vision is for a Scotland where people with learning disabilities and/or autism have the same opportunities as everyone else and are supported to achieve their goals. Through our comprehensive portfolio of job coaching, training, consultancy and evaluation services we build capacity of individuals and organisations to ensure that people with learning disabilities and/or autism live great lives with all the support they need to achieve this.

The Candidate

With a strong interest in learning about, or enhancing existing skills in, supported employment, the successful candidate will be confident in their ability to deliver successful outcomes for interns of Project SEARCH. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work one-to-one within a business setting and nurturing successful Intern/employee performance. Demonstrable evidence of delivering work to a high standard with a strong values-based approach is essential. Candidates may also benefit from previous knowledge and understanding of issues and activities that relate to people with learning disabilities and/or autism.

Further Details

The post is available for 28 hours per week until 30 June 2023 in the first instance. The post is subject to receipt of external funding and opportunities may become available to extend the hours and length of contract associated with the post.
