Marie Curie, one of the UK’s most loved charities, is seeking a Head of Business Development for Scotland & Northern Ireland to provide commercial expertise, analysis and insight to shape and influence the growth and sustainability of Place-based palliative and end of life care as part of the Business Development Senior Leadership Team.

So, alongside continuing to provide valuable support and care in people’s last days, the charity want to drive change at a systems level, lead through a focus on innovation, collaboration, and partnerships, as well as increase influence on policy development.

This is an especially exciting time to be joining Marie Curie as they launch their first business development strategy to ambitiously grow their reach to support more people affected by death, dying and bereavement. Their business development team is doubling in size and investing significantly in its capabilities including training, processing and systems to drive growth.

The Head of Business Development for Scotland & Northern Ireland will involve leading and managing all stages of business development and management, from capturing intelligence through to developing and delivering successful proposals/tenders and lifecycle contract management. You will also manage the Business Development function in Scotland and Northern Ireland as part of the Place Senior Leadership Team, providing support to these places as part of a UK wide Business Development Leadership Team.

What Marie Curie is looking for in the role:

  • A passionate and driven leader who will play a crucial role in delivering better outcomes to more people affected by death, dying and bereavement, by winning new business and growing services.
  • Someone who has excellent business acumen and is adept at identifying, creating and responding to commercial opportunities to grow our business and deliver better end of life care. You will recruit and lead a team to capture intelligence, conduct analyses and generate insights to inform the development of existing and new business by developing and delivering compelling, winning proposals, bids and propositions.
  • A highly people-centred manager and leader to develop and direct a successful Business Development team that is embedded in our Caring Services delivery in Scotland & Northern Ireland. As a credible professional you will engage and develop stakeholder relationships.
  • A persuasive influencer and negotiator who can develop strong relationships with customers, partners and colleagues, and lead on contract and pricing negotiations as well as deliver convincing presentations and pitches.
