Role

Venture Scotland provides a unique long-term outdoor-based programme of support and progressive development for young people and helps each individual to make profound, positive and lasting changes in their lives. We are supported by a large team of volunteers, from all walks of life, who have a passion for the outdoors and helping others.

You will be supported to lead on delivering stages of the Venture Scotland Journey, a series of 4 progressive programmes, by using the challenge of outdoor activities and residentials to provide in-depth and structured social and emotional learning opportunities for individuals and groups. You will also be required to support other team members to deliver the programme and to deliver presentations, ice breakers and outdoor activities to external groups.

The job frequently involves

Working together with others as part of multi-disciplinary team.

Making on-the spot decisions and managing the challenging behaviour of groups and individuals, sometimes in remote environments and challenging weather and conditions.

Residential overnight work. This will normally be scheduled in advance and will be compensated for by time off in lieu. The job also involves exposure to high places, the elements and bodies of deep water and the management of risk in these environments.

Continuously monitoring, reviewing and improving all aspects of your work to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people and to establish a compelling evidence base to prove the impact of VS to young people, volunteers, staff, the Board and all external audiences.

Promoting the benefits of VS programmes and activities to potential participants, their parents or carers and referrers.

Preparing reports, keeping detailed records and carrying out all relevant administration as required.
