Role

A new and exciting opportunity to work with us as a Project Lead in our Co-Design Team has arisen. You will play a key role in delivering projects that improve place quality and are effective in supporting people to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys.

As a Project Lead for Co-Design, you will oversee projects such as this example here: showcase-sustrans.org.uk/news/case-studies/residents-key-to-transformation-of-dumfries-neighbourhood as part of our award winning Street Design service and within Pocket Places, where we support communities across Scotland to find simple and quick solutions to improve the look and feel of their streets.

You will work collaboratively across departments as well as building and maintaining strong external relationships, engaging people in community groups, Local Authorities and businesses across Scotland.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring innovative and best practice community engagement and urban design which result in truly collaborative projects and concept packages. Some projects will be taken through to delivery by Sustrans and the role of the Project Lead in these cases, will be to ensure continued effective engagement and partnership working, as well as ensuring the success of the projects in liaison with colleagues from our design and engineering teams.

This role will require travel and work at locations across Scotland as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. We offer true hybrid working, a flexible mix of working from home and occasional travel to a nearby office hub in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

About you

You should have experience of leading, motivating and managing a team, in this role you will manage behaviour change and/or engagement officers.

With your excellent communication skills, you will adapt your style to suit your audience, building effective relationships and engaging with key people in community groups, businesses and those within local authorities across the nation.

You will be skilled in project management and your experience in community engagement or collaborative design will be key to being successful in this role. We ask you demonstrate your knowledge of managing budgets and working across multiple projects simultaneously.
