We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Human Resources Lead to join our Operations function as HR Advisor. MND Scotland is in a period of rapid growth and change. Having just celebrated our 40th anniversary, with a new CEO and Executive Leadership Team in place and a new 3-year strategy and brand launched during the summer, this is an incredibly exciting time to join us.
Reporting to the Director of Operations our HR Lead is a new role, created to reflect the importance of an engaged and committed staff team and a culture of inclusion, respect and collaboration.
This Senior Management Team role will provide comprehensive strategic HR advice and support to the CEO and Executive Leadership team whilst also end-to-end generalist HR support to the wider staff team and working as a trusted partner to develop people plans and procedures aligned to our values.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of our Senior Management team, you will have a broad remit of responsibilities as well as demonstrable experience of working alongside a recognised union.
Key responsibilities of the Human Resources Lead role will include:
- Provide support and advice in all areas of HR for the organisation. Responsible for delivering end-to-end generalist HR support including recruitment, new starters and leavers processes, payroll & pensions, employee engagement, disciplinary and grievance processes, performance management, and learning & development.
- Manage complex employee relations or people issues as a member of the joint consultation and negotiation committee. Provide professional HR expertise and advice to ensure risk is assessed and judgement is applied, and informed decisions are made.
- Lead review of current salary banding, job titles and pay and rewards schemes.
- Review, refine and drive the employee appraisals, ensuring employees receive regular feedback and have opportunities for progression.
- Conduct training needs analysis to develop an L&D budget and plan to support business growth and set the people up to succeed.
- Deputise for the Director of Operations as required.

Milton Community Garden Manager

The Milton Community Garden Manager will lead the development and delivery of a thriving, community-led garden that improves local health and wellbeing, strengthens community relationships, and increases access to nature. The role will oversee staff, community-led programmes and the garden’s facilities and grounds to ensure the garden supports key outcomes of the National Lottery Community Action Fund.
The postholder will support the garden’s therapeutic, educational and environmental programmes; increase community participation; deliver community meals and activities in collaboration with the Milton Food Hub; and develop the garden as a sustainable asset, including preparing the site for future venue hire and income generation. This is a hands-on role with significant responsibility for operational management, partnership development, and community-led working.
Total of 18 hours per week, at salary £30102 (pro rata £15481) + 25 days Annual Leave & 12 Public Holidays pro rata + 7% pension contribution. Funding is in place until 31 July 2028, subject to annual funding review and required reports.

As a senior community fundraiser, you’ll be an important part of the team building Breast Cancer Now’s presence in Scotland, with a particular focus on Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
We’re looking for someone who is an experienced relationship builder, someone who can find and develop new supporters. You’ll need excellent local knowledge, and the enthusiasm to develop a brand-new fundraising region.
The successful candidate will also be part of the team working on our large-scale project supporting and growing Asda Tickled Pink, our award-winning partnership with Asda and CoppaFeel! which has already raised over £100 million.
You’ll work directly with passionate colleagues across Asda stores in your region driving new fundraising initiatives, inspiring communities and celebrating incredible successes.
No 2 days will look the same as you travel, connect and engage supporters to help us grow income to deliver our mission.
The role is initially offered as an 18-month contract with the potential to become permanent.
About you
You’re confident in approaching new contacts and are experienced in developing new relationships from scratch. This may currently be in a customer service, account management or stewardship role.
You’re experienced in managing and building new and established relationships with a focus on retention and income growth.
You’re enthusiastic, proactive, organised and unafraid to test and try new ideas.
You’re required to be involved being out and about in the community that you’re building, so you must be able to work independently outside of the office in varying locations and enjoy being busy.
Previous experience working in a charity is not required.

Primary location of role
This is a remote role, and the candidate will need to be based in the Edinburgh area with unlimited access to their own car. Regular travel will be required to meet supporters and visit Asda stores in your region, as well as occasional travel to our London, Sheffield or Glasgow office.

About the role
As the Registered Manager, you will be an experienced leader leading a team working with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.

About You
