Role

Unveiling an extraordinary leadership opportunity at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIOF), we are inviting expressions of interest for the position of Director of Policy and Communications. As an integral member of the CIOF's Leadership Team, you will harness the power of policy development and communications to shape the trajectory of fundraising standards across the UK.

Stepping into this role, you will leverage your expertise to craft key policy positions on fundraising practices and procedures. By responding to consultations from governments and regulators, you will become an influential voice within the sector, ensuring the interests of fundraisers are always at the heart of wider voluntary sector discussions.

As Director, you will not only respond to external influences but actively shape them. You will collaborate with other infrastructure bodies and sector media to illuminate the triumphs and challenges of fundraisers and fundraising. Moreover, your leadership will give voice to crucial campaigns like #GivingTuesday, amplifying the messages that matter.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in policy development and delivery. You will have a track record of campaigning on complex issues, working effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government, parliamentarians, regulators, and the media. Your experience in delivering policy partnerships and producing research outputs for different audiences will be crucial. Your excellent analytical and writing skills, coupled with your comprehensive knowledge of fundraising practices and their regulation, will equip you to excel in this role.

Internally, your leadership will drive the day-to-day priorities of the organisation. You will cultivate a culture of excellence within teams across the CIOF, championing their development and supporting their best efforts. By providing the Executive team with regular, timely updates on performance, you will ensure the organisation’s objectives align with agreed Operational Plans.

A crucial aspect of your role will be to construct an integrated set of key messages, born from policy, research, and insight. Your leadership will steer the development of their positions on regulatory matters, particularly around fundraising regulation and compliance. You will also design and execute ambitious communication strategies that are tailored to specific audiences, establishing enduring engagement with key stakeholders.

In the Director role, your vision will shape how the CIOF interact with their audiences. You will foster long-term engagement that motivates individuals and organisations to join the CIOF, learn through their qualifications, and participate in events and conferences.

If you are a visionary leader with exceptional interpersonal skills, an effective presenter and networker with a background in policy development and delivery, this role presents a unique opportunity to use your skills to make a lasting impact.
