Role

Are you an experienced leader in facilities management and large projects? We are looking for a Head of Facilities & Projects to join our dynamic team of professionals.

The role

You will lead the delivery of a consistently high quality, integrated and responsive facilities operation across the CHAS portfolio, ensuring the highest levels of service and customer engagement. This will include the strategic leadership and management of operations teams and projects across all CHAS properties including facilities management, building operations, general/reactive maintenance, PPM maintenance delivery, grounds and gardens maintenance, health & safety, procurement, housekeeping, catering and hotel services.

Working in close partnership with senior colleagues across CHAS you will have an ongoing understanding of user needs and feedback on the delivery of the service and take forward changes needed in support of the children and family experience;

You will lead the team to ensure that maintenance and operational activities are scheduled, and that contractor activity is closely coordinated, supervised, and complementary to services provided by the CHAS team;

You will have a lead role for Health & Safety Management ensuring appropriate reporting systems are in place and that employees are appropriately trained, along with responsibility for implementing our health & safety improvement programme.

You will lead the project management of a significant programme of property transformation across both hospices over the next 5 years bringing creativity and innovation as well as professional leadership.

You will lead, manage and direct a committed and professional facilities management team through a period of change, ensuring cohesive and collaborative working aligned to CHAS values.

You will lead the development and maintenance of the CHAS 10 Year Asset Management Plan, capturing the ongoing investment required to maintain and improve property in line with need and feed into the wider CHAS budget setting process. You will recommend areas of focus for investment and prepare all associated business case evidence to inform investment decision making.

You will manage risks and maintain business continuity plans to ensure reliability and resilience of all services.

You will ensure our properties are run in a safe, effective and sustainable way, delivering best value to CHAS and the families who need our care. In support of this, you will provide regular performance reports including key performance indicators providing assurance that performance and service levels are in alignment with planned outcomes. You will also manage the facilities management & property budget with a key role in budget setting, budget monitoring and capital planning.

As a member of the CHAS leadership team, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development and delivery of strategy, policy, operational plans and cultural change.

About you

You will have first class leadership and management skills with a demonstrable ability to develop high performing teams, promote, and embed a positive culture of accountability and ownership;

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline e.g. facilities management, engineering or property management or have significant professional experience within a similar environment;

You will have strong technical knowledge of facilities management and operational support functions and excellent working knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation;

You will have a high level of influencing and interpersonal skills and be able to quickly build relationships and credibility to deliver impact at all levels;

A strategic thinker, you will have a strong record of accomplishment in developing and implementing strategy and policy effectively.

You will be innovative with strong commercial awareness and ability to drive forward and deliver change in line with strategic and operational objectives and priorities.

You will have a NEBOSH or an equivalent managing safety qualification and have a wide understanding of health and safety management across a large organisation.

You will be passionate about customer service and consistently delivering excellence.

You will be accountable and professional, with a desire for continuous improvement. Wide experience of resource management i.e. financial; human; capital, along with evidence of excellent IT skills is essential.
