In this role, you will be an integral member of the support team contributing to and ensuring the high quality of care and support for individuals within the Cupar Service.
Within the Cupar Service specifically we provide flexible support to individuals with mental health issues, learning disabilities as well as physical disabilities. Our role is to support and develop these individuals to allow them to partake in the transition from both a hospital setting or living with family into social housing with the final goal being able to live as independently as possible within the community.
The service and support we provide is built around the individual, taking on board their needs, choices and aspirations. No day is ever the same, but every day is rewarding to see how much joy these individuals get from the support they receive.
As a Senior Support Worker you will undertake regular review meetings, support the staff team and support the performance management process for yourself and support workers, liaising with families and other professionals. Furthermore you will work closely with the Coordinators and Support Workers to ensure the service users needs are constantly being provided for by developing and implementing support plans and ensure outcomes are set and people are supported to achieve these. Working within this service the successful individual requires to have the passion, drive and dedication in helping others to live fulfilling lives
About You
We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated individual who has the desire to support people to have the best life possible along with the drive to promote their independence. Those with high empathy, supportive nature and a positive attitude are key to success in what at times can be a challenging but rewarding role. Ideally you should have two years experience in a Support and Care setting and knowledge/experience of supporting people. Experience at supervisory level is a benefit but not essential however an understanding of the qualities and skills required is pivotal.
If you hold an SVQ 2 qualification in Care or a related field in line with the SSSC registration criteria this could be the opportunity for you. Further learning to gain an SVQ 3 would be required within a 2 year timeframe.
It is essential you are able to work shifts which will include weekend working, evenings, and sleepovers. Within the role of a senior support worker you are allocated office time out with your support work to assist in the running of the service.
