Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. SAMH has represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.
These services together with our national programme work in See Me, Respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. About the Role
We are entering a new and exciting phase in our Children and Young People offering and seek an experienced Service Manager to support our projects and staff.
This includes our school and community based targeted support programmes, which have a focus on early intervention, resilience, prevention and recovery.
Our work also involves building the mental health knowledge and skills of children, young people, their parents/carers and staff through our locality based and national capacity building work.
As a result of our work children and young people’s mental health stigma and discrimination is reduced; they feel more able to seek and receive support at a time when they need it most, while adults feel confident to have mental health conversations, and know better how to look after themselves while supporting others.
Working alongside the Children and Young People Development Manager the Service Manager will ensure the smooth delivery of our projects, consolidating and developing systems, structures and practice, to ensure the best outcomes for those we support and engage with.
They will manage a staff team that includes support workers, trainers, our Let’s Connect team leader and Admin and Marketing Co-ordinator.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, and have worked with schools, youth groups, health including CAMHS.
The service manager will have excellent people, leadership and communication skills, with experience in staff management, service development and young person-centred support work. They will have an understanding of the challenges that children, young people and their families’ experience, which impacts on mental health and wellbeing, along with the barriers they face getting the support that they require.
With experience in project funding, contracts and partnership working they will work alongside SAMH colleagues, funders, local authorities, health boards and other partners to support and review existing projects and delivery models, along with the development of new and innovative approaches, in line with our strategy in supporting children and young people’s mental health.
A full drivers licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

MHAP is one of the longest-running independent advocacy organisations in Scotland, and we are now recruiting a new team member to help expand our individual and collective advocacy services for people experiencing mental health challenges and/or addiction issues.
We provide advocacy support to adults aged 18–65 who live in West Lothian or are receiving treatment here. Our work takes place in a range of settings, including St John’s Hospital, HMP Addiewell, and various community locations, as well as home visits when required.
Individual advocacy involves working alongside people on a one-to-one basis to ensure their voices are heard and respected. We support individuals to understand their rights, make informed decisions, and have meaningful influence over matters that affect their lives.
Collective advocacy involves working with groups of people with lived experience to explore shared concerns, identify common themes, and influence service development, policy, and decision-making at a wider level.
