Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high calibre, self-motivated individual to join our successful charity in the role of Finance Assistant reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will assist in delivering a quality and professional finance service to ensure the Simon Community meets ethical and legal requirements and maintains financial efficiency and effectiveness.
Job Purpose
The role involves undertaking routine accounting procedures to ensure operational financial transactions are undertaken in a timely manner and in compliance with the required financial instructions.

MCR Pathways is looking for a diligent and proactive Finance Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated Finance team in Glasgow.
About the Role:
This role sits at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring we can continue delivering life-changing mentoring support to young people across the UK. As Finance Assistant, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting smooth transactional processes, and ensuring the integrity of the data we rely on to make informed decisions.
Working closely with our Finance Director and Finance Manager, you will help keep our systems running efficiently, supporting both day-to-day activity and the wider mission of the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all invoices and expenses submitted through Dext are accurate before publishing to Xero, resolving any discrepancies and confirming correct coding and tax treatment.
- Complete regular bank reconciliations in Xero, matching transactions and promptly investigating variances.
- Keep supplier and customer contact records in Xero accurate and up to date.
- Prepare and set up payment batches for approval, ensuring invoices are correctly coded, authorised and processed in line with internal procedures.
About you:
- Experience working with Dext and Xero and online expense management systems.
- Confident handling day-to-day financial processes.
- Organised, with an eye for detail and accuracy, you take pride in keeping data clean, reliable and easy to navigate.
- Comfortable following established processes but also able to improve or update them when needed.
- You enjoy solving problems and can work independently, managing your workload efficiently and proactively.
- You communicate clearly and professionally, and you work well with others across different teams.

The role of psychology within Simon Community ensures psychological theories and principles are embedded within the organisation in a creative and flexible way. Our psychology team within the organisation is continuing to grow, demonstrating their value and importance to our ever evolving services and support. We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to lead on this work in our West of Scotland teams and take an active leadership role within the organisation. The key focus of this role will be to support the organisation to continue to implement psychologically informed environment principles and trauma informed care, creating and maintaining psychological safety for all. This work will be carried out under the supervision of a Prinicipal Clinical Psychologist external to Simon Community Scotland. The job plan will be agreed with the Director of Services, working independently within the framework, policies and procedures of the organisation. The job plan will cover both direct and indirect work, with more focus on indirect, it is an opportunity to use the range of skills of a Clinical Psychologist; leadership, formulation, consultation, supervision, research and service development. The job will include working across different services in the West of Scotland, including supported accommodation, community support hubs and outreach. About the role
As the Registered Manager, you will be an experienced leader leading a team working with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
As the Registered Manager you will:
- Maintain the continuing relevance of services to individuals’ needs and purchaser requirements by ongoing planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Oversee the financial aspects of the service, managing significant budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and making financial decisions.
- Where a need or an opportunity is identified, lead on the development of new services, support business growth and maintain reputational excellence.
- Comply with governance, law and legislation including local authority compliance, Care Inspectorate (at level 5 and above), SSSC and safeguarding procedures.
- Support the senior management team in the streamlining, promotion and monitoring of quality assurance systems which meets the needs of individual services as well as the overall service delivery in the region.
- Develop, monitor and implement supervision and appraisal systems for staff.
About You
You will have passion and drive to take forward a well-established Service and Team. Be passionate; and committed to the overall aims and objectives of the service and have the belief that people can live fulfilling lives with the right support in place.
You should also have:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people and leading a service delivery team, including managing the provision of a safe operating environment in a relevant context.
- The ability to negotiate with a wide range of internal and external partners and build positive relationships including local authorities and housing associations.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise your own time and workload to meet a number of different and competing tasks in sometimes pressurised environment.
- Social Service and Health Care at level 9 (SCQF) or other speciality/qualification recognised by the SSSC for registration purposes as well as a relevant management qualification.
