The Astley Ainslie Community Trust is a charity working to achieve community ownership of the Astley Ainslie hospital in Edinburgh, when the NHS vacate the site. We have 750 local members, and a wider community of people interested in the future of the site.

The hospital celebrated its Centenary in 2023. To commemorate this milestone, the AACT are conducting an Oral History project which will collect spoken memories from people with connections to the hospital over the years. Heritage Lottery have awarded funding for this project.

The project will involve recording and collecting 40 oral history accounts from staff, patients, friends and family. The oral histories will be archived with Edinburgh Universities Lothian Health Services Archive. There will also be a small exhibition showcasing a selection of the oral histories in a public space.

We are looking for someone to project manage and lead the execution of this project.

Key service requirements:

Project management

Volunteer management, recruitment and training

Recruitment of subjects for interview

Reviewing, editing of interviews for archives and public facing outputs

Project administration, including regular evaluation and progress reports

Final project report

Leading development of public exhibition

We are looking for a person who will be:

Highly organised with an eye for detail

Friendly and able to communicate effectively with different project stakeholders

Familiar with the requirements of working on a self-employed basis (eg covering own tax and insurance etc).

Comfortable engaging with volunteers and members of the public.

We would expect provision of these services to occupy 80-90 days from January 2025 until the project end date of 25th November 2025, for which we are offering £200 per day based on time invoiced.

Remote and in-person working at multiple locations will be required.

The post will be managed by the Astley Ainslie Community Trust Project Management Committee and Project Director.

Edible Estates is a not-for-profit which establishes community gardens and the greenspace projects in Edinburgh’s council estates. In 2022, we were awarded a contract by Edinburgh Council to support existing gardens and establish new gardens in estates which do not have them.

The purpose of the role is to Engage with communities to encourage and support participation of residents in community gardens/ growing projects in council estates across Edinburgh. Build the capacity of new and existing community garden groups to manage their gardens through good organisational practice. Provide remedial support to groups where required where policies and relationships have deteriorated. Support the positive contribution community gardens can make to their wider communities through event and services.

To be clear, the role does not include teaching participants how to grow food, designing or building community gardens, these roles are delivered by other members of the team.

We seek a proactive and dedicated Development & Communications Officer to join our team on maternity cover. In this role, you’ll drive our fundraising efforts, lead the submission of grant applications, work on external relationship building, and oversee our external communications.

Approximately 80% of the role is fundraising-based. The remaining 20% of the role will be focused on communications.

Since we formed in 2014, we have been working to empower, equip, and enable Scotland's young leaders, aged 18-35, to lead action on tackling the climate crisis.

About the Worker Support Centre

The Worker Support Centre (WSC) is a Scotland based charity that promotes decent work and prevents exploitation. We support marginalised and isolated workers in labour sectors where there is a high risk of abuse and exploitation. We work in partnership with workers to build power to secure and advance workplace rights. We prevent human trafficking for forced labour by acting to reduce the risks of worker exploitation. WSC values include: respect for human rights, representation, transparency, equality and innovation.

WSC support includes advice, mediation, advocacy and assisted reporting to enforcement agencies. Our worker engagement informs policy change activity to address harms faced by those in high-risk work. In 2023 and 2024 WSC activities were targeted at workers in seasonal agriculture on the UK Seasonal Worker visa (SWV). About the role

This role is focussed on advancing seasonal agricultural workers’ rights by supporting WSC’s peer engagement work including actively conducting outreach to workers and facilitating worker education and power sessions. In this role you will support WSC meet two of its four core objectives to work together with workers to claim spaces for power and representation in decision making; and to build the field of knowledge about workers and their experiences to influence policy. This role will work closely together with our Peer Engagement team and Outreach Caseworkers.

WSC strives to achieve representation of individuals with lived experience of the issues on which we work at all levels of our organisation and actively promote applications from individuals with experience of the issues on which we work. For this role we would especially welcome applications from individuals with experience of working in seasonal agriculture.
