The Role:
We are seeking an experienced, skilled, and highly reliable Project Co-Ordinator to join our dynamic team. You will be the first point of contact of all charity clients with a warm and friendly approach required. This may often involve dealing with vulnerable individuals so sympathy, understanding and patience in these situations will be essential. This pivotal role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of our projects, with a particular focus on securing vital funding, managing our volunteer network, and overseeing financial processes. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong commitment to our charitable mission and values.
We are looking for a Pathways Coordinator for Lochaber High School, to work with young people, mentors and school staff involved in the MCR Pathways programme.
About the role:
You will be the key person delivering the MCR Pathways mentoring programme to young people in Lochaber High School. You will work within the school and form an integral part of the school community and wider MCR team. You will support volunteers from the local community who give their time to mentor a young person for an hour a week at the school.
Key responsibilities:
- Helping to build exceptional individual relationships with young people across S1 to S6.
- Consistently supporting and engaging with volunteer mentors throughout their participation with the programme. Helping to drive volunteer recruitment in the local community.
- Actively support MCR young people in school as they follow their education and employment pathways.
- Evidencing progression, impact and best practice for the MCR programme in your school.
About you:
- Exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships with young people aged 11-18 years, education colleagues, volunteer mentors, local employers and community organisations.
- Awareness and understanding of the principles of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability and confidence to present programme information and deliver prepared training sessions to groups of young people and adults.
- Ability to work well on your own initiative, as part of a team and on a flexible basis in response to the current needs of the programme.
- An understanding of the challenges and barriers that care-experienced and/or vulnerable young people may encounter.
- Experience or a knowledge of processes to document and evidence good practice and positive outcomes.
- Confident in the use of Google and/or Microsoft Word, spreadsheets and Teams.
You will be an empathetic person who is open minded, non-judgemental, resilient and who is driven to improve outcomes for care experienced and other vulnerable young people.

MCR Pathways is an award-winning charity established in Glasgow in 2007. Our mentoring programme is now delivered in schools across the whole of Scotland, including the Highlands and Islands. This role will involve supporting both the Volunteer Coordinator and teams across the organisation who involve volunteers in their work as well as facilitating groups for our care experienced members in the Glasgow and Renfrewshire area.
The postholder will be responsible for promoting the positive involvement of volunteers at Who Cares? Scotland, and assisting the Volunteer Coordinator on the coordination of recruitment, training, development, and support of volunteers in all areas of our work.
They will have a key role in maintaining a successful volunteer programme across the organisation working as part of the national volunteer and participation team. They will also be supporting groups that care experienced members attend and will have some experience of youth work and of planning/organising activities and events.
The post holder will be required to be flexible and work some unsocial hours to meet operational needs. There will be opportunities to work from home, but there will be a requirement for the post holder to be based in one of our Central Belt offices.
The post holder should be well organised, be a highly effective communicator, have the ability to build positive relationships, and have a genuine interest in volunteering and youth work. The post holder will also need to be efficient at working independently as well as part of wider team.
Significant experience of coordinating the work of volunteers including recruitment, selection, training, support and retention, and of meeting targets set around these areas is essential for this post. In addition, the post holder will have a sound knowledge of current research and recommendations relating to volunteer issues, and have the ability to prioritise, plan and organise tasks and activities effectively. Being strongly committed to the work of Who Cares? Scotland and our aims is also essential for this post.

About Govan HELP
Govan Home and Education Link Project (Govan HELP) is a local Family Support charity based in the heart of the community in the Govan area of Glasgow. Our services aim to support children and families from the local area to overcome problems, build resilience and confidence, and achieve overall improvements in the quality of family life.
We offer five different services at Govan HELP: Family Support, Play Therapy, Adult Counselling, Training and Volunteering, and The Govan Pantry, providing a range of practical and therapeutic supports to children and families from the Govan area of the city (G51). We have close links with schools, social work and health colleagues in the local area and work collaboratively with organisations to achieve stronger outcomes for children and families. In addition, we work with a wide range of third sector partner agencies to build a more holistic package of support for families, tailored to their individual needs.
We know that the kinds of issues our families face can be wide ranging and include things like physical and mental health conditions, drug and alcohol addiction, housing and debt issues, domestic abuse, and trauma.
