Benefits
What is the VF?
The VF is a charity passionate about supporting the vulnerable veterans and it has paid out in grants over £20M since inception in 2016. It operates as an independent grant-making foundation offering targeted support to a broad range of charities and charitable organisations that support those in need among serving armed forces’ personnel, veterans, operationally qualified seafarers, and their immediate families.
Funded projects include those that tackle homelessness, increase employment, overcome poverty, and provide welfare and medical support. It also supports initiatives that increase confidence and social integration, as well as reducing dependence on alcohol and drugs.
The VF gives priority to well-run small and medium-sized charities and organisations in need of funds that help the target beneficiaries.
To date the majority of funds raised by the VF have come from the highly successful Veterans' Lottery (VL). However, individual donations are growing significantly and show potential for further development. We now need a member of staff to support the VF’s Fundraising Manager in building a broader fundraising base.
More information about the VF can be found at: veteransfoundation.org.uk.
A summary of the VF’s work can be seen here: Impact Film 2024

Core competencies
Are you a whizz at sourcing, writing and pitching successful funding applications to trusts, foundations and other valuable funds? Do you thrive on achieving significant income growth and smashing ambitious targets? Do you want job satisfaction knowing that your work is making a big difference to families across the UK?
It takes a special person to take a strategic and operational lead in generating income for a registered charity like The Breastfeeding Network. We have a vision of all mums and families feeling supported in their feeding choices and able to breastfeed for as long as they choose. We already receive funding from various sources but we know there are even more mums, parents and families out there who need our support; support that needs funding.
If you’re an experienced funding professional who dreams of a family-friendly employer where your work has big impact, then we might be just what you’re looking for. Working with our fabulous service teams and finance colleagues, you will draw on your honed skills and extensive experience in ambitious income generation to secure strategic and core funding from trusts, foundations, legacies, community fundraising activity and beyond. Your work will be essential for ensuring that all families can continue to rely on the services the Breastfeeding Network provides, well into the future.

The Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust (SSPDT) is a national charity that supports and partners a wide range of not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and small and large charities in Scotland. You can read more about our work at sspdt.org.uk
Whilst the SSPDT is in a position to award grants to support youth music-making programmes, we are aware that volunteer fundraisers in communities often find it hard to find match funding because of a lack of time and knowledge. Although they run excellent programmes, they are much less likely to be able to secure funding than their professional, paid, fundraising counterparts, who are employed by larger, better funded organisations.
This new fundraising role will improve equality of access to funding for a range of volunteer groups across Scotland. By so doing, the role will expand opportunities for young people to learn instrumental music, and to make music and perform with others, building confidence, teamwork, resilience, perseverance and other important skills for life, learning and work.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial, energetic individual who enjoys innovation, coaching, and has an ey for strategy as well as detail. We are a small, friendly team working in lovely office in central Edinburgh as well as remotely.

More information
As company Directors and charity Trustees, the Board is responsible for leadership, direction, and oversight to a small team of nineteen, mostly part time, paid staff, plus significant volunteer support, which is vitally important to the museum.
The museum has come through the difficult Covid and post Covid period, but there are undoubtedly ongoing challenges. We are looking for new Trustees, including a new Chair, to lead the organisation over the next few years. We are looking to develop our resilience, combining our local context and commitment with the perspective that comes from a nationally recognised collection, presenting an industry that continues to be of national significance.
Trustees are not remunerated but can recover expenses. Trustees have carried a heavy load recently but are aiming to move to a more regular and less demanding schedule of formal Board meetings approx. every two months, alternating between on-site and remote meetings. Trustees also contribute by serving on committees such as the Resources Committee and any ad hoc commitments including correspondence. The aim is for an annual commitment of 12-15 days.
