As part of the next phase of our Rivers Project, we are recruiting for a Catchment Restoration Development Officer.

Background

Sustaining Dunbar, in partnership with Forth Rivers Trust (FRT), has secured development phase funding to prepare detailed, shovel-ready nature restoration plans for the Dry Burn and Spott Burn catchments in East Lammermuir. This project is part of a wider, long-term ambition to deliver landscape-scale nature recovery across East Lammermuir from summit to sea.

The development phase will identify and design a portfolio of restoration interventions — riparian tree planting, natural flood management measures, habitat connectivity improvements, and invasive species control — working across approximately 22 landholdings in the two catchments. The technical design work will be led by FRT. The role of this post is to make that technical work possible: by building the relationships with landowners and land managers that underpin it, and by coordinating the programme so that individual work packages fit together coherently across land boundaries.

Purpose of the Role

To coordinate this next phase of the project and act as the primary point of contact for landowners and land managers across the Dry Burn and Spott Burn catchments, building the trust and relationships necessary to develop coherent, spatially connected restoration work packages, and to coordinate these with Forth Rivers Trust so as to develop a portfolio of credible and fundable habitat enhancement and restoration projects.

We are seeking someone with a good knowledge and experience of food growing and an understanding of food poverty and the benefits of healthy eating. You will have had a minimum of two years’ experience and a track record of success in the development of community projects.

You will ideally have an understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements upon charitable voluntary organisations; be numerate and have experience of budgeting, staff management and of reporting to a Board.

The successful candidate will be a good organiser who is able to multi-task and prioritise competing priorities with minimal supervision. You will be creative , innovative and resourceful and committed to the aims of our project. The person appointed to this role will be a committed Christian who plays a key part in enabling the church to honour God through integrity, transparency, and good financial management.

This role is based at the church office, with flexibility for some home working by arrangement. Line management will be through the Operations Manager and Church Treasurer, both of whom will provide ongoing advice and support.

The Stroke Nurse plays a key role in supporting a seamless transition from hospital back into the community for people who have expereinced a stroke and their families. The role focuses on helping individuals adjust to life after stroke

by providing personalised information, advice and emotional support. A core part of the role is enabling people to develop confidence in self management, supporting them to build the skills and knowledge needed to manage their condition, maxinmise independence and improve their long term wellbeing.

The Stroke Nurse will also help deliver the evidence-based, six-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme, supporting people to build confidence and skills in managing their long-term health.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is organised and motivated, with good communication skills. Candidates must have a first level general nursing qualification and have a minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience in

either a hospital or community setting. Experience working with people affected by stroke is essential.

  • Arrange and facilitate regular team meetings and support and supervision sessions with your team
  • Complete yearly appraisals and personal development plans with your team

What you can expect from us

  • The post holder will report to the Housing Services Manager.
