Ricefield Arts & Cultural Centre is a registered charity and social enterprise for the exploration and promotion of Chinese culture and has an excellent reputation for delivering original and inspiring creative experiences, cultural events and workshops to community groups, public institutions and arts audiences around Scotland.

We are currently looking to appoint a Treasurer to join our small Board. The Treasurer will be responsible for managing all financial matters on behalf of our organisation and will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation has robust financial processes to ensure it meets its legal and constitutional requirements. It will also be the responsibility of the Treasurer to report the financial position at the board meetings. While we encourage and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, we are keen to hear from candidates that have experience of charity financial management or are chartered in a suitable accountancy field.

All Trustees are required to attend monthly board meetings, either at our office located in the heart of Glasgow city centre or via Zoom. In addition, we ask Trustees to attend our annual board development day, important meetings with stakeholders and some events and projects, where possible. As Ricefield Arts is a social enterprise, the role also involves serving as our Board of Directors.

Please note that this is a voluntary role. Neither the Trustees nor Board of Directors receive any remuneration, however, travel expenses incurred in carrying out board duties will be fully reimbursed.

Other than the Treasurer, we also wish to appoint additional Trustee(s) with community engagement or cultural events management experience to serve our Board. Please check our website for more information.

At our AGM on 26th November 2025, Bill Stevenson was appointed as Interim Chairperson replacing Angela and we are thankful that he has taken on this extra responsibility on the board during this period of recruitment.

A sub-group of the Board has met to review the recruitment process for a new Chair, in line with our Memorandum and Articles of Association. We are now seeking your support to nominate an independent Chair. This person will be someone not currently employed within the youth work sector, but who brings the skills, experience and strategic fit needed to lead the organisation into its next chapter.

This is an important appointment for YouthLink Scotland and our members, as we continue our role as the national intermediary for youth work. We will also be seeking to co-opt one or two additional Board members during this period, and it is therefore vital that we attract people with a strong track record, high standing, an appropriate public profile, and a genuine commitment to our mission.

As a national charity this role is not remunerated, but expenses incurred in supporting the role will be covered.

The Rees Foundation is a national charity based in Worcestershire that seeks to support adults who have, at some stage in their lives, been in foster care or residential care. Rees is resolute that care shouldn’t stop at 18, 21, or 25 years, it’s lifelong, and someone should be there to care. We listen, offer practical and emotional help, and we develop projects that really make a positive difference.

The role

The role of a Trustee is to ensure that the charity fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on its vision, mission and values. The Board of Trustees are jointly and individually responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities, and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

Our Board currently comprises members with a variety of skills in social care, strategic planning, finance and business.

As we have recently extended our registration to operate in Scotland, we are particularly keen to strengthen Scottish representation on our Board. We would welcome applications from individuals who have:

  • Experience or professional understanding of the Scottish charity governance framework and OSCR regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Scottish care system, including transitions, aftercare, or leaving-care support in a Scottish context.
  • Connections to communities or organisations across Scotland that can help us better serve care-experienced adults in the region.

We would especially welcome applications from people who have professional knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Fundraising
  • Lived experience of being in care

We are a friendly, dynamic team of Trustees, looking to speak to interested parties that can be either experienced or someone seeking their first opportunity to enhance their skills in a charity board setting.

We are ideally looking for someone who has an understanding of the health and social care sector but this is not essential. Persons with skills in either finance/accounting; nursing, social work/ relevant health care, IT or HR are particularly welcome.

The minimum time commitment includes attending monthly board meetings (approx. 3 hours), but we are hopeful you will use your expertise to further support our senior management on an occasional basis, co-leading on specific projects.

What is the Voluntary Sector?

The ‘voluntary sector’ refers to organisations whose primary purpose is to create social impact rather than profit. It is independent from local and national government, and distinct from the private sector. Charities are the largest single category within the voluntary sector.

Being a Trustee

Our Board of Trustees is a non-executive Board with overall legal responsibility for the direction, management and control of Shelter and is collectively accountable for compliance with charity law, company law and other legislative and regulatory requirements. As a Trustee, you will have the chance to support and shape our work and strategic direction. Trusteeship can help you gain experience of strategy and leadership. It will give you experience of setting a strategic vision, influencing and negotiation, and managing risk. If you already have significant experience in these areas, it can be stimulating to use it in a different and potentially challenging context. As a Trustee, you will be part of a team and will have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience while learning from others. Working closely with a passionate team of people who have different perspectives is often one of the most enjoyable aspects of the role. People with lived or learned experience of homelessness can bring powerful perspectives to our Board and play an important role in shaping our strategy. Terms of Appointment Terms of office are normally limited to a maximum of two terms, each of three years.

Remuneration

Trustees receive no fees, remuneration, salary or other financial benefits nor any other material benefits in their role at Shelter. However, they can claim reasonable expenses for attendance at Board and other meetings or events in line with the Trustee Expenses Policy.

Application Criteria

Charity Commission CC30 Guidance and the Charities Act 2011 disqualifies some people from acting as a trustee. Shelter will not appoint a person who is not allowed by law to be a trustee.

About Urban Uprising

Urban Uprising improves the life chances of disadvantaged young people through rock climbing.

Our programmes support physical, social and personal development, giving young people access to highly trained, positive adult role models. We work with those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to take part in activities like climbing, helping them build confidence, resilience and a sense of possibility.

We currently work in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Cambridge and Bristol, partnering with local youth organisations to reach young people experiencing disadvantage, often from deprived communities.

Our Board

Urban Uprising is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with a committed and supportive Board of Trustees drawn from a range of backgrounds.

The Board meets at least four times per year, with additional engagement and input as needed between meetings. Trustees work collaboratively with each other and the staff team to ensure strong governance, strategic direction and long-term sustainability.

The role

Trustees play a central role in the governance of Urban Uprising and support the charity’s mission and values at a strategic level.

We are looking for two people to join the Board. We are intentionally keeping this role open and skills-agnostic and are keen to hear from people who are motivated, thoughtful and care deeply about supporting young people.

No previous Trustee experience is required. Induction, training and ongoing support will be provided.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant and supportive national children’s charity. As Finance Manager you would have overall responsibility for delivering our efficient and effective finance function. You would play an important role in continuing to support a financially resilient organisation which contributes to a better Scotland for all children and young people.

You will be CCAB qualified and have an appropriate accountancy qualification and will have extensive knowledge and understanding of charity finance, including being up to date with the Charity Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP). You will have experience of ensuring that effective and efficient financial procedures are in place and adhered to and good communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information to different audiences.

Children in Scotland puts values at the centre of its work and you will need to be able to demonstrate that you understand how important organisational values are and to show that you are able to embed them in what you do and how you do it.

*We are advertising for a full-time role in the first instance. However, if you are seeking a working pattern of 3 or 4 days a week, then we could consider that if you are the best person for the role.

The Role

The Operations Manager’s role is to support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), by managing all operational aspects of Trust in Fife so that it achieves its objective of supporting homeless people, those who may be threatened with homelessness and disadvantaged people and in so doing meets its contractual obligations, financial commitments and regulatory requirements.

Maintaining registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and a suitable PVG return are also requirements for the role. You will be required to take part in an on call service (one week in ten) for on call for our Housing Support Services.
