Deafblind Scotland is the specialist charity working with deafblind people or those at risk of developing a second or dual sensory loss. Our ambitions are high for people with sensory loss, particularly those who are deafblind and we are therefore at the cutting edge of finding ways to support them to lead their most meaningful lives. The Carers Advice Project is a support service for carers, and those carers may themselves have a sensory impairment as well as or instead of the person they care for. The project operates in Fife to support people to access their rights so they can have a better quality of life and to reduce socio-economic and health inequalities. This post will also involve travel across Fife with occasional travel required to & from our office in Kirkintilloch.

Deafblind Scotland provides information & specialist knowledge in many inclusive forms of communication relied on by people with sensory loss including Braille/Moon, BSL/Tactile BSL, Deafblind Manual & Audio.

The project officer will work with the carers affected by sensory impairment within this project which is part of our Connect2Support Programme. Overall ensuring the carers affected by sensory impairment, who are amongst the most disadvantaged in society, are provided with specialist support which enables them & those they care for to access their rights and navigate the systems, services and support that can improve their lives.

The Role

The Operations Manager’s role is to support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), by managing all operational aspects of Trust in Fife so that it achieves its objective of supporting homeless people, those who may be threatened with homelessness and disadvantaged people and in so doing meets its contractual obligations, financial commitments and regulatory requirements.

Maintaining registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and a suitable PVG return are also requirements for the role. You will be required to take part in an on call service (one week in ten) for on call for our Housing Support Services.

About the Role

As Treasurer, you’ll provide financial oversight, guidance and governance at board level. You’ll work closely with the Centre Director and Finance Officer to ensure the organisation remains financially healthy, compliant, and able to plan sustainably.

This is not a bookkeeping role — day-to-day accounting is already managed inhouse. Instead, we are seeking someone who can offer strategic insight, clarity and assurance around finances and risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organisation’s financial governance and ensure compliance with OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator) requirements.
  • Review management accounts, budgets, and financial reports before board meetings.
  • Support the Director in preparing the annual trustees’ report and liaising with independent examiners/auditors.
  • Advise on financial risks, sustainability, reserves, and long term financial planning.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions at Board level, including capital planning and funding strategy.
  • Champion best practice in charity finance and support the development of internal financial processes.

We welcome applicants with a range of financial backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • Accountants (qualified or part qualified)
  • Finance managers
  • Bookkeepers with strong financial governance experience
  • Individuals with charity finance knowledge
  • People with a passion for community arts who bring confidence working with numbers

Essential Attributes

  • Confidence reading financial statements and budgets
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non financial board members
  • An interest in charity governance and organisational sustainability

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with charity finance or SCIO structures
  • Understanding of capital projects or long term organisational planning
  • Interest in circular economy, sustainability, or community development (aligned with our values)

Time Commitment

  • Quarterly board meetings (evenings or hybrid, with some flexibility)
  • Occasional sub meetings with Director/finance team
  • Approximately 4–6 hours per month
  • Minimum one year commitment preferred

Role Purpose

The Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships Manger plays a key role in growing sustainable income for Calum’s Cabin by developing and managing high-value fundraising streams, including a renewed focus on corporate partnerships. The postholder will build strong relationships with corporate supporters, trusts, and community partners, delivering innovative fundraising initiatives that support families affected by cancer.

This role combines strategic development with hands-on delivery and is ideal for an experienced fundraiser who is passionate about making a tangible impact in a small, dynamic charity environment. You will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the founders to develop and deliver the Fundraising Strategy.

You will be experienced in and passionate about the charity sector, with an ambition to grow as an expert in fundraising. We are looking for a someone with the creativity and initiative to develop new fundraising ideas, and who is professional, personable, and resilient.

As a small team, we provide a significant level of support to families each year. You will be required to undertake a variety of tasks, sometimes working with others in the team, and at other times working independently. You will be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.

Welcoming, Connecting and Supporting Families and Visitors is at the core of what we do here at the Croft

Providing practical and emotional support, information and advice to the families who come into contact with HMP Barlinnie, improving the visits experience and through an earlier intervention model, supporting complex needs, easing often extremely difficult life circumstances for children and families - including the multi-faceted impacts of deep poverty.

Role

Do you want to help make a difference to the lives of families affected by another’s imprisonment – this is a group of people, including many children, often marginalised and severely impacted, practically, emotionally and financially by the actions of another. Want to learn new skills in the process? - you can by becoming a volunteer Board Member for the Croft at HMP Barlinnie and help us to lead and guide the Management Team and staff to deliver the ambitions sets out in our 5 year strategy.

What we are looking for

We welcome applicants from any background and experience, including people who have been personally impacted. We welcome all skills but do have particular skills gaps we would love to bring aboard –

  • Communications Experience - to further guide and help us develop work we have already undertaken to improve our communications offering as we grow and diversify our work
  • Commercial business experience (particularly Social Enterprises / Community Interest Companies) – to support the further development of our Social Enterprise ambitions - supporting a more self-sustaining approach to our funding
  • Bookkeeping / Accounts – finance – as we grow and diversify what we offer we find ourselves managing more complex funding arrangements
  • Other experience and skills will always be welcomed – a cross section of skills is what makes our Board such a great environment to work in

The Finance Assistant will have accounting accreditation by examination and will have experience working in a similar church or charity environment.

The person appointed to this role will be a committed Christian who plays a key part in enabling the church to honour God through integrity, transparency, and good financial management.

This role is based at the church office, with flexibility for some home working by arrangement. Line management will be through the Operations Manager and Church Treasurer, both of whom will provide ongoing advice and support.

Clan Childlaw stands with children and young people when they stand up for their rights.

Clan is an award-winning, independent children’s charity that actively supports children and young people to take ownership of their rights.

We are the only charity in Scotland that provides free, independent legal representation exclusively for children and young people, which is child-centred by design.
