Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire (WASLER) have delivered domestic abuse services across South Lanarkshire for more than 30 years. We provide an outstanding level of service provision to support the needs of women, children and young people who have experienced, or are presently experiencing domestic abuse.

We are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced woman to fulfil the role of Property and Maintenance Worker

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the refuge accommodation is maintained to a high standard, is fit for purpose and safe.

The role involves turnaround of void properties, completion of all void health safety, reporting/managing repairs, general admin duties in relation to the accommodation, replenishing of refuge stock, all cleaning duties and minor DIY tasks such as painting, building flat pack furniture and hanging pictures. This is a very busy role and the post holder will have a proactive approach and attention to detail. As all our accommodation are self-contained properties it is essential the post holder has a driving licence and use of a car.

Who We’re Looking For

You may be an experienced practitioner ready for your first management role or someone bringing transferable leadership experience from a related sector.

  • Previous track record in a business development role primarily in B2B markets
  • Experience of negotiating and building effective relationships and partnerships with external organisations
  • Knowledge/willingness to learn of the issues and experiences of people with learning disabilities and/or neurodivergence

Deafblind Scotland is the specialist charity working with deafblind people or those at risk of developing a second or dual sensory loss. The Carers Advice Project is a support service for carers, and those carers may themselves have a sensory impairment as well as or instead of the person they care for. The project operates in Fife to support people to access their rights so they can have a better quality of life and to reduce socio-economic and health inequalities. This post will also involve travel across Fife with occasional travel required to & from our office in Kirkintilloch.

Deafblind Scotland provides information & specialist knowledge in many inclusive forms of communication relied on by people with sensory loss including Braille/Moon, BSL/Tactile BSL, Deafblind Manual & Audio.

The project officer will work with the carers affected by sensory impairment within this project which is part of our Connect2Support Programme. Overall ensuring the carers affected by sensory impairment, who are amongst the most disadvantaged in society, are provided with specialist support which enables them & those they care for to access their rights and navigate the systems, services and support that can improve their lives.
