Routes To Work South

Youth Services Leader

  • Routes To Work South
  • Full time
  • £43,079
  • On site: Cambuslang
  • Closing 28th October 2026

Are you looking for an organisation where you can make a difference? Are you enthusiastic, self-motivated and have passion for helping young people achieve their goals? If so, we would like to hear from you!

Routes to Work South (RTWS) is an award-winning organisation committed to alleviating poverty and supporting unemployed South Lanarkshire residents to develop skills, confidence and knowledge required to progress into and sustain employment. We work collaboratively with partner agencies, employers, and stakeholders to deliver flexible, accessible, client-centred employability and skills services that respond to the needs of local communities and the labour market. Our services support individuals facing a range of barriers to employment, helping people progress through different stages of the employability pipeline towards positive and sustained outcomes.

Leadership at Routes to Work South

At Routes to Work South, our Leaders turn strategy into action. As part of our Leadership Team, you’ll inspire high-performing teams, drive results and ensure our services deliver improved outcomes for the people we support.

You will balance support with constructive challenge, creating a culture of accountability, inclusion and continuous improvement. You will set clear expectations and drive performance. From service quality and compliance to performance and customer experience, you’ll lead from the front ensuring high standards are consistently maintained.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, outcomes-focused environment and are motivated by getting the best from people, driving improvement and making a real difference, this could be the role for you.

This is a new leadership opportunity for someone to build on RTWS’s established track record of delivering effective youth services. Currently, our youth offer includes employability support and tailored training programmes, complemented by the delivery of a dedicated Youth Hub from our Cambuslang office. Together, these services support young people to overcome barriers, develop skills and progress towards positive destinations, contributing to improved School Leaver Destinations.

With youth unemployment and the risk of young people becoming NEET continuing to be a significant challenge, we want to broaden our reach, strengthen pathways into employment, education and training, and improve outcomes. As Youth Services Leader, you’ll have the opportunity to shape this development, bringing fresh ideas and identifying new ways to increase our impact.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll provide strong, hands-on leadership, taking ownership of team performance and driving performance against KPIs and targets. You’ll maintain high standards of quality and customer experience while ensuring full compliance with contractual and funding requirements.

You’ll champion an inclusive, person-centred approach while providing the support and constructive challenge needed to get the best from your team. Working closely with other Leaders and the Senior Management Team, you’ll contribute to organisational priorities, turn strategy into action and help shape the future direction of RTWS’s youth services.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience of working with young people and/or adults with health and wellbeing needs.

Scottish Child Law Centre

Solicitor – Govanhill Community Clinic

  • Scottish Child Law Centre
  • Full time or Part time
  • £35,000
  • Hybrid: Glasgow
  • Closing 6th November 2026

We are a specialist law centre championing and protecting children’s rights across Scotland. Our vision is for ‘all children growing up in Scotland to have their rights respected, protected and fulfilled.’ We provide free, specialist legal advice on child law and children’s rights, helping children, young people, carers, and families access justice when their rights have been breached.

We do this through our advice line and community clinic in Govanhill. We also deliver specialist training to organisations and schools, building knowledge and capacity to better uphold children’s rights. Through the evidence and insights gathered from our legal work, we advocate for long-term, systemic change to improve outcomes for children across Scotland.

The Centre established a Community Clinic in Govanhill, which has been operating since October 2025. The Clinic provides free legal advice and support to people who need us most, helping to remove barriers to accessing justice and extending our reach into the community. Our community advice work responds to the significant barriers many children and families continue to face in accessing legal support, particularly within Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, where a lack of access to legal aid can leave rights breaches unaddressed.

Through the Community Clinic, we also seek to become a trusted and valued part of the local community. By building strong relationships with schools, community organisations, statutory services and others involved in the care and support of children and young people, we aim to increase awareness of rights, improve access to advice, and ensure our work is informed by the experiences and needs of the communities we serve.

Purpose of the role

As a solicitor for the Scottish Child Law Centre, your primary role is to promote and further the rights of children and young people in Scotland, by giving legal advice to children and families at our Govanhill Community Clinic.

Please note this post is open to women only. This is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1.

SCLC require to recruit a solicitor for the Govanhill Community Clinic. The role is to provide legal information and advice face to face in our Govanhill clinic. The diversity of the local population and the variety of cultures in Govanhill includes some religions and cultures where women would not, or do not feel comfortable, attending a one-on-one meeting with a man. The main demographic of people who use our clinic are ethnic minority women. Engagement and feedback from community members and partner organisations highlighted the need and preference for women to provide solicitor services in the clinic.

Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 provides that in certain circumstances it is lawful for an employer to apply a requirement to have a particular protected characteristic where, having regard to the nature or context of the work; there is an occupational requirement, and the application of the requirement is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

SCLC believe that, for reasons stated above, the requirement to have a solicitor who is a woman is a genuine occupational requirement. Being a woman is therefore essential to the post and there is a legitimate aim for applying the requirement to have a woman-only post. For the same reasons, and in particular the direct legal advice and services the post holder will perform, the requirement is proportionate.
