Aberdeen Community Delivery Coordinator

We’re looking for a friendly, motivated person to join our team. The Community Delivery Coordinator will support the delivery of the MCR Pathways mentoring programme in Aberdeen City and surrounding areas. You will support our volunteer mentors and young people, and ensure mentors and young people receive individualised support and remain fully engaged throughout their mentoring journey. You will be responsible for the timely recording and updating of internal mentor recruitment documentation, supporting mentor recruitment, and assisting with the delivery of in-school and community based mentoring and group work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload of young people and mentors, from initial referral and relationship building to active programme participation.
  • Help with the recruitment, interviewing and training of volunteers, including conducting PVG safeguarding checks.
  • Facilitate and support the “matchmaking” process to ensure young people are paired with the most suitable mentors rapidly and effectively.
  • Conduct regular progress evaluations, providing both support and constructive challenge to monitor the impact of the programme.
  • Work with the regional team to help drive mentor recruitment to the targets needed for your area.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality case studies to satisfy funding and quality assurance requirements.

About You

  • Exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships with young people, education colleagues, volunteer mentors, key partners and community organisations.
  • Awareness and understanding of the principles of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Ability and confidence to present programme information and deliver prepared training sessions to groups.
  • Ability to work well on own initiative, as part of a team and on a flexible basis in response to young people and organisational needs.
  • An understanding of the challenges and barriers that care-experienced and/or vulnerable young people and young adults may encounter.
  • Experience or a knowledge of processes to document and evidence good practice and positive outcomes.
  • Good knowledge of the local area, including community groups, employers and local organisations.

You should be a “people person”, open-minded and happy talking to large groups as well as having one-to-one chats.

About the Role

We are seeking an individual to raise awareness of the Fund’s welfare offer amongst social welfare agencies across the North East of Scotland but also, crucially, to help address the issue of social isolation and feelings of loneliness experienced by some members of the RAF Family.

You will have experience of engaging and supporting people in a community, charity, social care, or other people focused position, supporting those who are socially isolated to be better connected into their communities. You will have good organisational skills, empathy and the ability to listen and build relationships with people who may have complex and challenging welfare needs, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector.

This is a community-based position working from home but covering the Inverness, Moray, Aberdeenshire and Grampian regions primarily, delivering both remote and face to face support. The candidate must have their own vehicle to use to travel around these regions. Occasional travel to Edinburgh and London will be required.

Job Purpose

Job Role & Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver targeted small-group interventions for pupils with additional support needs, adapting activities, resources, and approaches to ensure inclusive, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate learning for every child.

• Plan, develop, and deliver engaging whole-class, small-group, and out-of-class activities, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s strategic aims and contributing to the design of innovative learning resources and session plans using tools such as physical activity, LEGO Six Bricks, and Sphero BOLT robots.

• Lead, mentor, and support colleagues, sessional staff, and volunteers, modelling best practice in facilitation, behaviour management, and inclusive pedagogy to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across all programmes.

• Lead team building, structured play, and social-emotional learning activities and contribute to intergenerational programmes which promote empathy and positive relationships between children and adults.

• Oversee the development and continuous improvement of alternative holiday programmes, including LEGO Clubs and Cardboard Creation Clubs.

• Lead monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance, including data collection, observations, session audits, coaching feedback, and reporting to the Senior Management Team, using insights to drive improvements.

The Job

The Business Administration Assistant will provide a customer-focused and comprehensive administrative and reception service to the Practice and Participation team and all stakeholders, including support to the Service Manager. The Link Academy team works primarily with people with complex backgrounds. The experiences of these young people often result in low self-esteem and confidence, poor mental health and a pattern of destructive behaviours. Because of this, these young people find it difficult to manage key transitions such as moving into work or training, into a tenancy or leaving care. The service works hard and creatively to maintain the early engagement of participants. By offering mental health and wellbeing programmes, independent living skills and a wide range of qualifications to support their progression, we give young people the tools to better manage their own mental health. Doing so helps them break negative and destructive cycles of behaviour and thinking, with the aim of putting them on the path to having the best life possible. Staff are trained in using a trauma-informed approach to support young people to build confidence, develop resilience and realise their goals for the future.

The Job

The ‘Right Track (Navigating Positive Futures)’’ is a preventive programme which focuses on supporting young people at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system, through the provision of one-to-one and group-based support. The Development Worker will have a background in criminal justice and will support young people facing issues including youth crime, antisocial behaviour, family breakdown and school-related difficulties, to achieve their goals and aspirations, providing them with practical tools and techniques to overcome the challenges they are facing. We welcome applications from people with lived experience and professional experience.

The Development Workers will also provide support to parents and caregivers, as well as leading a team of peer education volunteers (16-24) who will use their own lived experiences of the criminal justice system to positively influence young people supported through the programme.

About You

You are passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes, particularly those involved in or affected by the criminal justice system. You will be educated to SCQF Level 7 (HNC or equivalent); however, we actively welcome applicants with relevant lived experience who may not hold formal qualifications, as training and qualifications will be supported within the role. In these cases, you must have demonstrable experience of working with this client group.

You will have a minimum of three years’ professional experience in youth work, including direct experience of working with young people in a criminal justice setting. You are skilled at developing, shaping, and delivering engaging programmes that respond to the current challenges facing young people, using a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.

You are confident in building positive, trusting relationships with young people and have experience creating or identifying resources for one-to-one work and group delivery, including the effective use of digital tools and resources. You will also have experience of building and sustaining partnerships with a range of stakeholders.

You bring a good understanding of current Scottish policies and the social, economic, and systemic challenges affecting young people and families in Scotland. You are highly organised, with excellent planning skills, and are an effective communicator, confident in both oral presentations and written reporting. A good working knowledge of ICT is essential.

You are a collaborative team player with a flexible, can-do attitude, willing to work across different areas as required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support specific training programmes or events, although this sits outside normal delivery hours.

Who We Are

We are an energetic, student-centred charity representing over 10,000 Heriot-Watt University students. We deliver services, events and welfare support to help students succeed academically, socially and personally. • Involvement in sub-committees or project groups of the Board

As a Community Young Person and Family Support Worker (Crisis Response), you will be required to travel Scotland-wide, with potential overnight stays away from home, with expenses paid.

To continue our existing well-established service and support a Pilot project (Alternative to Policy Custody), we are looking for a keen, enthusiastic individual who has an interest in helping children, young people and their families. This new pilot will be supporting young people away from police involvement and working along side our bespoke young person and family support service.

Purpose & Context of Role

The postholder will manage their own caseload, ensuring support plans are developed with the young person to respond to their individual needs and supporting them to improve outcomes in line with GIRFEC principles and includem’s model of support.

You will be expected to actively demonstrate leadership and ownership over effective service delivery to young people, by managing their outcomes through the use of line managers, colleagues and organisational tools, processes, policies and procedures.

Service Delivery

  • To build relationships and deliver outcome-based support to young people and families, involving all key stakeholders.
  • To be available for young people and families at critical times
  • To explore values and attitudes with young people in a supportive manner, to affirm and validate their feelings and ideas, and nurture and confirm their learning
  • To ensure a focus on regular and appropriate case progression to help young people and families recognise progress.
  • To assess and respond appropriately to situations where young people and/or families may be at risk of harm.
  • To actively participate in the delivery of the Includem Helpline evening and night service so support is available for young people and families 24/7
  • To support with crisis management and generate solutions for young people and families using the Helpline, with risk enablement being at the heart of professional judgement and decision making

People

  • To understand the different coping mechanisms that young people and their families use to deal with stress and high emotions, and to respond appropriately
  • To demonstrate professional resilience when providing support with sensitive or challenging issues
  • To use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals facing adversity to find solutions and make positive changes, ensuring resources are in place to sustain these changes
  • To establish mutually trusting, open and non-judgemental relationship with young people and their families
  • To encourage and lead collaborative team work to provide a ‘scaffolding of support’ around each young person and their family whilst developing relationships with wider community resources.
  • Offer support to young people within their own communities and support them to access resources locally
  • To respect and value the contribution of wider stakeholders and the delivery of Includem services
  • Where opportunity allows experience of directing, supporting Sessional staff
  • Any other duties as designated by your line manager

Influence

  • To build relationships with Local Authorities with varying demands and priorities
  • To ensure young people and families are empowered to make informed choices
  • To support young people and families to effectively communicate with others

Resources

  • To deploy time effectively to meet the needs of young people and families to ensure the service is available 24/7, 365 days per year.
  • Able and willing to travel anywhere in Scotland to respond to needs from Local Authorities, including overnight stays away from home.
  • To maintain and produce accurate and timely records and reports.
  • To ensure support is delivered in line with Includem’s Policies, Procedures, SSSC Codes of Practice & National Guidelines.

Quality Assurance

  • To be accountable for the quality of your work and responsible for any work delegated to others within the Includem support, and be able to evidence this work effectively.
  • To actively participate in formal supervision and continuous professional development.
  • To have an overview of the work delegated to other Includem workers involved in delivering individualised support to your young people.
  • To generate creative and new solutions to issues faced by young people and families.

A UK driving license is an essential requirement for the role.
