TD1 Youth Hub is recruiting a Project Lead for TD1 Cashback Extra, a major three-year youth work project supporting young people aged 11 to 18 in Galashiels and Langlee.
Funded through CashBack for Communities, the project will provide trusted relationships, targeted youth work, positive activities and community-based support for young people affected by poverty, trauma, exclusion, antisocial behaviour and wider risk.
We are looking for an experienced, values-led youth work practitioner who believes in real community work and the difference trusted adults can make in young people’s lives. You will help lead and shape this new project, coordinate delivery, support staff and sessional workers, build strong partnerships and make sure young people get the right support at the right time.
This is a hands-on role. You will need to be comfortable building relationships with young people, planning and leading youth work activity, supporting a small team, working with partners and keeping good records of impact and learning.
The working pattern has some flexibility. The role will normally include one evening youth work session per week and responsibility for coordinating and supporting the Saturday youth work team. Hours can be discussed with the right candidate, between 28 and 35 hours per week.

About the Candidate
We are looking for an experienced and committed youth work or community education practitioner who is motivated by supporting young people to engage, learn and progress within a structured, year-long programme.
The successful candidate will be confident working with young people who may be ambivalent about education, attendance or authority, and comfortable working to routines, timetables and clear expectations. They will use youth work relationships to build trust, consistency and motivation, balancing warmth with appropriate challenge.
They will have a strong understanding of youth work principles, safeguarding and professional boundaries, and will work collaboratively as part of a strong, trusting team.

Senior Youth Development Worker, 35 hours per week

As the Senior Youth Development Worker, you will lead and coordinate youth work provision within the Tannahill Centre, supporting young people to participate in volunteering and active citizenship opportunities that build their skills, confidence and aspirations.
You will deliver both group work and one-to-one support, enabling young people to develop personal development plans, gain accredited learning where appropriate, and overcome barriers to participation in their community.
You will also take a lead role in developing and managing youth work programmes, including evening activities, leadership opportunities and school holiday provision, ensuring services reflect the needs and interests of young people in Ferguslie Park.
In this role, you will manage and support youth work staff, sessional workers, volunteers and trainees, while working alongside the Community Development Manager to grow and expand youth provision. This will include developing partnerships, identifying funding opportunities and increasing participation with the aim of delivering a six-day-per-week youth work programme.
You will build strong relationships with local organisations and partners, promote the achievements of young people, and demonstrate the impact of youth work through monitoring, evaluation and storytelling.

The Senior Development Officer will work with the Youth Work and Schools Manager to deliver YouthLink Scotland’s Scottish Attainment Challenge national programme.
As a senior member of the team, the post holder will promote, support and enhance the youth work sector’s practice and role in improving outcomes for learners impacted by poverty, both in schools and in the wider community. They will be responsible for supporting the development of quality partnerships between youth work and schools and enabling practitioners to evidence the impact of this work in addressing the poverty related attainment gap. They will also play an influencing role with stakeholders across the system.
The post holder will be expected to have a clear understanding of Scotland’s educational landscape and the range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations working with young people.

Burnfoot Community Futures (BCF) is a community development trust based in Burnfoot, Hawick – the largest social housing area in the Scottish Borders.
We are seeking to employ a Youth Development Officer to lead and oversee delivery of the CashBack Burnfoot Youth Project, working alongside community partners and building on ongoing work to address antisocial behaviour and improve outcomes for young people in Burnfoot.
