The Role:
The role provides operational leadership across a defined operational area of the Trust’s reserves, ensuring land management, people management and community engagement deliver strong conservation outcomes. It involves leading and developing the local team, supporting volunteers and representing the Trust locally and nationally, whilst building robust relationships. The post oversees planning, delivery and quality assurance of reserve and project work, ensuring compliance with policies, health and safety and regulatory requirements. It also manages budgets, risks and ecological data, embedding evidenced based decision making and maintaining accurate documentation and supporting long-term site and project development. Through this combination of leadership and operational oversight, the role helps safeguard the Trust’s reserves and advance its conservation mission.
Main objectives:
Land management and project delivery
Manage wildlife reserve operations across the North East Reserves Management Area, including conservation and land management and monitoring of 1699 hectares across fourteen wildlife reserves with a range of habitats, including blanket bog, heaths, fens, maritime cliffs, lochs, grasslands, and woodlands.
Representation and stakeholder engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, volunteers, contractors, communities and interested parties. Represent the Trust professionally at local, regional and national events and meetings, and proactively manage day‑to‑day issues with neighbours and partners.
People management and teamwork
Line manage and develop the operational area team, leading recruitment, induction and performance. Foster a positive organisational culture, support collaboration across teams, and act as the key local contact for members and volunteers. Help recruit, train and retain volunteers, and provide local operational insight to support fundraising, communications and policy work.
Information and operational management
Maintain risk registers, manage budgets, and promote a strong safety culture. Use ecological data to inform decision‑making, ensure data governance compliance, and support effective reporting and monitoring of conservation outcomes through internal systems.

Our Alternative Routes service, funded by Cash Back for Communities, will work in partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Council and other community partners to provide alternative routes to young people aged 10 to 25 who are involved with or at risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system. Our service will take a whole system approach and provide support through street work and group sessions within our community hubs in Dumfries, Annan and Stranraer. We will follow a whole family, whole community approach to ensure our young people and have increased opportunities to achieve their goals.

We are looking to recruit a Young People’s Workers to join our Alternative Routes #Cashback Service who will work 18 hours per week based in Stranraer. These hours will be worked in line with the needs of the families and young people we will be supporting and will include evenings, weekends and public holidays. This post is currently funded until 31st January 2029 by CashBack for Communities, and we are actively seeking further funding.
We are looking for someone to join our team in who is passionate about supporting children and young people to secure the best possible outcomes as they live and grow within their communities. Our aim is to ensure that children, young people and families are supported to build on their strengths, assets and interests to develop enduring capacity and resilience. Turning Point Scotland is the biggest provider of services to people experiencing or at risk of Homelessness across Scotland, delivering support to around 2000 individuals on any given day, 4500 per year.
We believe that in many cases, Homelessness is entirely preventable. Where Homelessness is not or cannot be, prevented the experience should be brief and non-recurring.
We provide support to people who are;
Around two thirds of our work is with people who are experiencing Homelessness.
We believe a menu of options should be available to individuals to prevent, or support someone to move on from Homelessness. This ensures we use a ‘no wrong door’ approach to accessing service and behind this door, people should be met with a ‘Whole System Approach’ to support.
We deliver a range of outreach services including Housing Support (Short and Long Term / Intensive); Housing First and Crisis Support.
Our ambitions are high for those we help; we want everyone to reach their full potential, to become active and valued members of their community, to acquire the life skills and decision-making capabilities to lead a stable productive and fulfilling life. We will challenge, coach and encourage to help achieve this, sometimes involving the peer support of others who have shared similar personal journeys.

About Us – Fife Support Service
We believe that a home is a human right and that an individual is best placed to deal with the issues that made them homeless in the first place, in a place they can call home.
Fife Support Service delivers Housing First support, where we work across Fife to enable people to maintain independent tenancy sustainment, reconnect with their local communities and assist them to build their resilience to prevent repeat homelessness.
Standard working hours are 9am - 5pm Monday - Thursday, and 9am - 4.30pm Friday.
