The Health and Wellness Hub is registered charity set up due to a recognised gap between exclusion and access to health services within North Lanarkshire, in particular for those who face greatest disadvantage. Working in local communities that are in the top 10% data zones of multiple deprivation (SIMD 2012) the organisation provides a service to individuals within these communities and who face disadvantage and are unable to access mainstream services.

The services we provide include running weekly community based heath & wellbeing activities, volunteer opportunities for those who experience disadvantage and health and wellbeing services to local businesses (our Social enterprise)

Volunteer Coordinator

The Health and Wellness Hub are looking to recruit a Volunteer Coordinator who will lead and further develop the charities award winning “Transforming Lives” Volunteer Programme.

“Transforming Lives” is a volunteer programme aimed at individuals who have health and/or support needs. The programme has been successfully running since 2015 and has supported volunteers to improve their health and wellbeing, boost their confidence and self-esteem and learn new skills. The charity identifies as a Supported business (we employ a percentage of people with barriers and are furthest removed from the labour market) Since 2015, there have been 19 volunteers who have been employed by the charity.

The postholder will also develop and deliver the charities new Junior Transforming Lives programme, ensuring all young people engaged achieve positive outcomes.

The postholder must have a good track record of leading and co-ordinating volunteer and volunteer led projects.

The postholder must have experience of working with individuals who have a wide and diverse range of needs e.g mental health issue, learning/physical disability, long term health condition etc.

They must also be active listeners, have an empathy for the people they are working with and a sensitivity to their needs and a passion that regardless of their barriers, they can support them in a person-centred way to achieve their full potential.

They must be able to build effective relationships with the volunteers and facilitate the same with each of the volunteers via peer support and should have the skills to manage conflict if and when it arises.

There is also a requirement that the postholder is able to effectively design, deliver, monitor and evaluate all activity which demonstrates social impact, so a sound knowledge or MS packages, report writing and monitoring/evaluation systems will be required.

The postholder must have an understanding of the third sector, and in particular our charity which operates as a Supported Business with a small team of staff and volunteers.

Finally, the postholder must be an effective networker and build good, effective and sustained relationships with our partners that will not only further support the volunteer programme but the other services the charity provides NL wide.

BAME Engagement and Equalities Coordinator

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. The BAME Engagement and Equalities Officer will be responsible for supporting organisations across North Lanarkshire to enable and improve their engagement with the most marginalised and vulnerable members of Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Communities.

The organisation is a supported business and 70% of the current staff team were participants on the volunteer programme.

Development Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join The Health and Wellness Hub Management Team. The Development Manager will lead on our work as Community Solutions Host in the Airdrie Locality, support the development of new areas of work within the charity including the Carer Breather Funded Befriending Programme, and work with the management team to contribute to accessing grant funding and identifying new and building on existing social enterprise activities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. The Wellness Coordinator will design and deliver a range of workshops, training events and exercise classes to hub users. Some examples of our charities current activity includes Yoga, Tai Chi, Mindfulness and stress management but the successful candidate may have other skills, qualifications or experiences in other wellbeing activity that they could offer users. The successful candidate should be confident in working with a range of individuals and groups including people with learning disabilities, children and young people, people with mobility problems and people experiencing mental health illness. The successful candidate will support individuals to overcome barriers to their involvement in all of our services and will support a team of staff in the design, re-design and delivery of services.

Volunteer Co-ordinator

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. The Volunteer Coordinator will support a team of carer breather volunteers who will provide emotional and social support to carers and the individuals that they care for. This post is being supported by the Carer Breather Fund; this fund identified that a high priority for carers locally was to have regular, ongoing breaks that they can depend upon on a weekly or fortnightly basis – especially during the period of recovery from COVID 19.

Social Enterprise Coordinator

We are seeking a creative Entrepreneur with an understanding of the aims and ethos of working within the third sector. If you have experience of developing or working within social enterprises then we are keen to engage your skills. The Social Enterprise Coordinator will support the development of our wellbeing centre as a key means of income generation for the charity. This will involve identifying and increasing a customer base to access a range of wellbeing classes and workshops, identifying additional opportunities for income generation within the centre and marketing our space to increase rental income. They will also be involved in the design and delivery of other new services that have income potential.

The focus of our income generating strategy is our wellness centre this will include group exercise classes, workshops and retreats and community café. However, the post holder will be encouraged to identify and propose additional income generating opportunities too.
