We are looking to recruit a number of full and part-time Young Carer Support Workers with relevant qualifications and experience of supporting Carers aged 5 – 25, in education and/or the community.
Founded by Carers in 1998 Capital Carers is a highly regarded charity providing carer support to unpaid carers of all ages. Our Ethos is to provide unpaid carers with a range of high quality support services which enable them to have some normality of life whilst carrying out their caring role. Our Vision is that all carers get the help and support they need to sustain their caring role. We are in the 4th year of a projected eight year contract to deliver appropriate support services to young carers in schools, colleges and the community in the North West Locality of Edinburgh.
You will work flexibly, to include some early evening and occasional weekend working. An element of working from home is envisaged.

We are in the process of organisational change and development having secured in collaboration with two other care support charities long term funding to support Young and Young Adult Carers across Edinburgh. We now wish to develop and expand our current services to older Carers.
If you are an experienced manager, four years minimum, hold SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and Level 4 Management enabling registration with the Scottish Social Services Council; have experience of developing and managing projects/initiatives and are up for a demanding but we believe exciting challenge then we want to talk to you.
If you have three years’ experience supporting young people, aged 5 – 18, in school and/or the community, have relevant qualifications and are up for a new challenge with a carer support organisation, part of an exciting collaboration of three carer support organisations supporting young carers across Edinburgh then we want to talk to you.

In order to support our development, we want to recruit a further two Trustees/Directors.
As a member of the Board of Trustees/Directors, our governing body, you will contribute to setting the long-term strategic direction of Capital Carers as well as providing advice and support to other trustees and the CEO. Although we are ideally looking for specific skills and experience, we are just as keen to welcome the diversity of thought and constructive challenge of a “critical friend”. Our Board normally meets about seven times a year late afternoons or early evening either physically or on line. Trustees are not paid but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

You will work a flexible 35 hour week to include some evening work and occasional weekend working.
