Children's Services Manager

Barnardo's Scotland is looking to recruit an experienced and highly skilled Children's Service Manager to manage the Barnardo's Nurture Service Inverclyde. The service provides whole family support to children, young people (0 to 18 years) and families across Inverclyde. The service consists of a range of services and a varied funding landscape. The Children's Service Manager should be experienced in managing a range of contracts and competent and confident in managing the associated reporting schedules and commitments.

From a service delivery perspective, the service is structured as follows:

  • Attainment Team - Supporting school age children, in communities, schools and outreach within the family home.
  • Children's Disability Team - Supporting and providing groupwork activities for children and young people with additional support needs and complex disabilities.
  • Early Years Team - Providing a range of support and interventions for across Early Years, this includes 1-1 intensive and groupwork support for children and their families, at our service base, in the community and outreach within their family homes.
  • Birth Parents Service - Intensive support for Birth Parents, who no longer have care of their children through adoption, long term foster and kinship care.

In addition to the Barnardo's generic person specification, requirements for the role include:

  • Educated to degree level in social work, social care or related fields.
  • SCQF level 11 management qualification is (desirable).
  • Experience of managing and reporting on multiple and varied contracts and exploring future funding opportunities
  • Flexibility in role, and working out with core hours to meet needs of the service

We are looking to appoint a Project Worker 1 to join our Thrive and Nurture Family Support Services.

This is an exciting opportunity to support service delivery across both our children's disability service and wider family support service, working alongside children, young people and families to achieve positive outcomes.

You will provide practical and emotional support through both 1:1 and groupwork interventions, including outreach support in family homes. Working collaboratively with families and partner agencies, you will help empower parents and carers while ensuring children and young people are supported in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, creative and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.

Key Responsibilites

  • Deliver support to children, young people and families through 1:1 work, groupwork and outreach
  • Assess needs and contribute to care planning and positive outcomes
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers to empower and build resilience
  • Collaborate with partner agencies including health, education and community services

About You

You will:

  • Have experience working with children, young people and families, including those facing adversity
  • Hold an HNC in Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards relevant qualifications
  • Have a good understanding of the challenges affecting vulnerable children and families
  • Be confident delivering both groupwork and 1:1 interventions
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team and with partner agencies
  • Have knowledge and experience of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Be organised, with the ability to maintain accurate case records

The Role

Cloch’s vision is to deliver homes and services that exceed customer expectations, and the role of Housing Officer is central to achieving this. As part of our Housing and Communities team, you will play a key professional role in delivering high quality, consistent and customer focused housing services across Inverclyde.

This is a frontline role requiring sound judgement, balanced decision making and strong relationship management. You will take lead responsibility for a defined patch of housing stock and a caseload of tenants, acting as a visible and trusted presence within the community and working proactively to sustain tenancies, manage risk and maintain safe, well managed neighbourhoods.

You will work closely with Assistant Housing Officers, the Housing Manager and colleagues across Community Support and Property Services, leading a broad range of housing management activities, including:

  • Tenancy & Income Management: managing rent accounts across a defined patch, preventing arrears through early intervention, agreeing repayment arrangements and progressing proportionate recovery and legal action where required.
  • Anti Social Behaviour & Enforcement: leading the investigation and management of ASB and tenancy breach cases, balancing tenancy sustainment with firm, proportionate enforcement to protect communities.
  • Estate & Neighbourhood Management: maintaining standards through estate inspections, addressing environmental and neighbourhood issues, and taking action where tenancy conditions or safety concerns arise.
  • Allocations & Voids: providing professional oversight of allocations, supporting tenancy sign ups, applying judgement in higher risk or complex cases, and contributing to reducing void loss.
  • Customer Engagement & Service Delivery: acting as a key point of contact for tenants, delivering clear, professional communication, resolving issues early and supporting a positive customer experience.
  • Casework & Partnership Working: managing complex and high risk cases, working closely with internal teams and external agencies to support tenancy sustainment, safeguarding and positive outcomes.

This is a two-year fixed term, part time (14 hours per week) job share post with a salary of £42,707–£46,895 (Grade 7, pro rata), hybrid working arrangements, 8 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata), family friendly policies, SHAPS pension scheme and a strong focus on wellbeing.
