About the role

Our vibrant and busy services in Dumfries and Galloway provides support to people concerned about their own or someone else's alcohol or drug use. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Recovery Worker who is motivated to work as part of a thriving and diverse team, ensuring recovery opportunities are available for individuals at any point in their recovery journey. You will strive to work collaboratively with partners and communities, ensuring that we are as accessible as possible and that the principles of a Recovery Oriented System of Care and true person centred practice are at the heart of all that we do. An SVQ Level 3 in Social Services and Health care and registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is essential for this post.

Job Description

Our Recovery Workers work with our service users to help them to determine what their goals, ambitions and passions are, working with them to create the best treatment plan for their needs and to get them back onto the path to recovery. This is an integral role for With You - as a frontline worker, you will deliver continuity of care through effective partnership working, care coordination, delivery of interventions and key work responsibilities. You will manage an active caseload of service users, connecting quickly with the people we support, treating them respectfully and with dignity. Our Recovery Workers play a vital role in supporting clients to identify their goals, ambitions, and passions. You’ll work with them to create the best treatment plan for their needs and to guide them on their path to recovery.

The service in Dumfries and Galloway operate out of two main offices, all others locations are covered by outreach work. This is a busy established service and WithYou have held the contract here since 2011. Partnership working is essential and flexibility is required by staff to ensure clients are offered the best support available to help them in recovery.

This is a full time, permanent position with a salary of £23,821.35 per annum.

Essential Skills

We are looking for positive and motivated candidates who are able to communicate with a wide range of people and in different settings. You will also be organised with excellent time management skills.

To be successful in this role you will:

• have attained SVQ level 3 in Social Services & Healthcare or equivalent
• already be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or meet the registration requirements
• have a driving license and access to a vehicle
• have some experience of working in a health, social care, or related setting
• have some experience of delivering services in a community setting
• have knowledge and understanding of delivering evidence-based interventions
• have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike
• be resilient under pressure and able to prioritise you work
• able to be flexible with your working hours on occasion and be happy to support other With You locations when needed

Ideally you will also have previous experience of working or volunteering with people who misuse substances. We welcome applications from those with lived experience.

You will also need to meet our safeguarding requirements of a satisfactory enhanced PVG check.

Where the role fits in our organisation

Resources and Development

Our Resources and Development Group are responsible for many of our organisational services and policies, including finance, income, governance, legal, people and performance, as well as managing our Fund Management portfolio of investment to our sector. The team includes Lead Officers, Development Officers, Support Officers, Coordinators and professional advisors working together to build a high performing, effective organisation and a great place to work.

We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about the impact and potential of our third sector, who thrives on building strategic partnerships and relationships with an eye for detail to oversee investments to our sector and secure our own income. With a good understanding of third sector funding, the successful candidate will be the policy lead for Fair Funding across Dumfries and Galloway, as well as leading a small team to deliver our funding priorities, to secure investment in our sector and to design and deliver on our long-term income priorities to ensure our sustainability.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the development of our Fund Management proposition, delivering key investment to Dumfries & Galloway’s third sector and communities on behalf of funding partners.

• Oversee the development of our long-term funding pipeline in line with our Prospectus, ambitions and outcomes, supported by a dedicated Development Officer and wider team.

• Build positive relationships with funding partners with a view to securing investment in our capacity building and development priorities in line with Fair Funding.

• As policy lead for Fair Funding, work with our Community Planning Partners to develop an adoption plan for Fair Funding and provide advice in line with Fair Funding principles and CPIB national guidance.

• Oversee advice to the sector on Fair Funding and securing investment, supported by Development and Locality teams.

• Represent the third sector/TSDG at appropriate partnership meetings.

• Provide effective leadership and support to colleagues within the direct team and across the organisation, leading with compassion and integrity.

Who we are

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for supporting people living with dementia to achieve good outcomes using a range of therapeutic interventions, resources and activities as appropriate. Working as part of the Registered and Commissioned Services/Community Connections team you will have responsibility for ensuring that services are of the highest quality and meet Alzheimer Scotland’s vision for unique therapeutic, highly person-centred support.

You will work with the wider team and Day Services Manager to ensure safe practice and delivery of high-quality, person-centred, therapeutic Registered and Commissioned Services/Community Connections, ensuring practice complies with Alzheimer Scotland’s policies. You will contribute to evidencing, reviewing and continually improving the quality of the services and will participate in internal audit and Care Inspectorate inspections.

You may operate within a building-based Day Care or as part of a Community Connection team delivering Community Groups and Outreach services across an allocated area. At times, this will involve working without supervision in the absence of the Day Services Manager.

You will work with the wider team to evidence that services meet Alzheimer Scotland’s Quality Guarantees, Scotland’s Health and Social Care standards and other quality frameworks including those of the Care Inspectorate where relevant. This includes ensuring that the activities and support offered meet the identified personal outcomes of those attending the services.

What you’ll have

The successful candidate will have a good understanding and/or experience of working with or supporting people living with dementia and their families. This will include an understanding of the benefit of high quality, evidence based therapeutic activity, ongoing evaluation, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care Standards and SSSC codes of practice and the Care Inspectorate and their role in registered services.

Understanding and knowledge of dementia, mild cognitive impairment and Brain Health and experience of working with or supporting people living with dementia and their families.

The successful candidate will have a recognised professional qualification in health, social work or related field, to SCQF Level 6 (SVQ 2)

A full drivers license is preferred for this post.

We are looking for an experienced colleague in finance and resource management, someone with an eye for detail to support the financial health and sustainability of our organisation. With a good understanding of financial management and reporting, along with great planning and administration skills, the successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of our income and payment processing, as well as overseeing essential people/HR processes with the support of our external advisors.

What You'll Do

• Support the development and oversight of the organisations budget.
• Accurately record and process all income and expenditure.
• Oversee banking transactions and bank reconciliation.
• Develop our finance system to support accurate planning, recording and reporting.
• Support the development of our annual reports.
• Coordinate staff recruitment and support design of induction programmes for new staff.
• Work with our external HR Advisor to develop our people policies and our electronic Staff Handbook.
• Using our HR system, ensure effective monitoring and reporting of absence, leave and employment records.

Our Partnerships and Communities Group are responsible for our work with the third sector, partners and communities across Dumfries and Galloway. The group leads on community insights and involvement, Locality Hubs, sector advice, training & development, building sector capacity, encouraging community involvement and representing the third sector. Key partnerships are with Dumfries & Galloway Council, NHS Dumfries & Galloway, Community Planning, Scottish Government and national sector bodies. The team includes Lead Officers, Development Officers, Support Officers, Coordinators and professional advisors.

We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about the best start for all our children, the importance of community-led support around families and who recognises the essential role the third sector plays in achieving positive outcomes for people across Dumfries and Galloway. You will lead our new partnership project focused on the delivery of a community-led model of support for neurodivergent children, young people and their families. Working closely with families, third sector and statutory partners, you will lead this exciting project from concept through to implementation, sharing and embedding the learning across our cross-sector partnership.

What You'll Do

• Work alongside a diverse range of families, children and young people, with a focus on listening to their neurodevelopmental needs.
• Work closely with cross-sector partners to build a community-led pathway to advice and support that is accessible, inclusive and easy to navigate.
• Identify third sector training needs; working closely with all partners to co-design, deliver and evaluate a programme of accredited training to meet the identified community need.
• Plan, implement and evaluate community engagement activities, workshops, and meetings in a variety of informal settings.
• Work in a way that facilitates the delivery of safe, effective, rights-based and person-centred practices.
• Work within community engagement competencies and local and national guidelines.
• Collaborate with staff across all agencies, developing and maintaining good relationships and clear lines of communication.
• Effectively prioritise workload, recognising the requirement to be flexible whilst working alongside community members.
• Be involved in the delivery and collection of outcome measures related to the programme of work.
• Contribute to partnership working using knowledge, data and insights from across the sector to better inform decision making.
• Represent the third sector/TSDG at partnership meetings.
