The Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Sessional Profile Workers to support children, young people and adults with Tourette Syndrome and other neurodivergent conditions.

The successful candidate will work directly with individuals and families to develop personalised profiles that highlight strengths, support needs and practical strategies to help others better understand the person's experience. You will also provide information, guidance and signposting to help individuals access appropriate support and services.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about neurodiversity, inclusion and empowering people living with such conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with individuals and families online/in-person to gather information and understand their experiences.
  • Develop high-quality, person-centred profiles that reflect strengths, needs and preferred support strategies.
  • Promote neuro-affirming, trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches throughout all work.
  • Provide information, guidance and signposting to relevant services and resources.
  • Liaise with schools, health professionals, social work and other agencies where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with GDPR and safeguarding requirements.
  • Represent Tourette Scotland professionally and uphold the values of the organisation.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant qualification or experience within health, social care, education, counselling, youth work, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, social work or other relevant field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children, young people, adults and families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of neurodivergence, including Tourette Syndrome, Autism and ADHD.
  • Understanding of neuro-affirming and person-centred practice.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and online meeting platforms.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Desirable Criteria

  • Lived experience of Tourette Syndrome or neurodivergence.
  • Experience of supporting neurodivergent individuals and families.
  • Knowledge of GIRFEC, Additional Support for Learning (ASL) legislation and the Equality Act 2010.
  • Experience of partnership working across health, education, social work or the third sector.
  • Experience of report writing, profile development or advocacy work.
  • Relevant postgraduate training or specialist neurodevelopmental training.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, empathetic and approachable.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for neurodivergent people.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs.
  • Committed to inclusion, acceptance and empowerment.
