Role

The successful candidate will lead a distinctive 24/7 supported living service and help shape its next stage of development. We are seeking an experienced, values-led manager who can inspire a multidisciplinary team, strengthen partnerships and ensure that 22 adults with learning disabilities receive consistently high-quality, person-centred support.

About us

Established in 2015, Esmond Street provides high-quality, 24/7 supported living for 22 older adults with learning disabilities and people with additional complex needs. One of the few services of its kind in Glasgow, it was developed to meet growing demand for specialised, person-centred support that can adapt as people’s needs change.

Esmond Street is part of Enable Glasgow, a membership organisation that provides services for people with learning disabilities across the city. Our work includes supported living, social opportunities, social enterprise activity, advocacy and campaigning. Founded in 1957, Enable Glasgow now supports around 200 people directly and has almost 400 members.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Supported Living, the Service Manager will lead Esmond Street through its next stage of development. You will lead and develop the staff team, build strong relationships with family members, external professionals, commissioning authorities and regulatory agencies, and ensure that Enable Glasgow’s values are evident in day-to-day practice and future service development.

We are looking for a manager who shares Enable Glasgow’s commitment to the right of people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. You will bring empathy, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to helping each person live the life they choose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: this role involves managing and supporting a dynamic staff team, including support workers, housekeepers, catering staff and our senior support workers. It also involves conducting regular support and supervision, appraisals, and supporting continuous professional development.
  • Service Delivery & Quality Assurance: to coordinate the operational management of the service, ensuring compliance with Care Inspectorate standards, legislative frameworks, and internal policies.
  • Safeguarding & Risk Management: to lead on protection inquiries and implement robust risk assessments to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
  • Resource Management: to effectively manage allocated budgets, play a role in commissioning appropriate care packages, and allocate resources efficiently to meet local population needs.
  • Partnership Working: to collaborate closely with health and social care partners, other third-sector organisations, and family networks, promoting integrated, holistic support.

What We Are Looking For:

You will need to demonstrate the following experience, qualifications and professional requirements. Where a management qualification is not already held, we will support the successful candidate to work towards one.

  • Experience: Significant experience in a health or social care setting, including a proven track record in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Qualifications: SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent professional qualification) alongside a recognised management qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
  • Professional Registration: Active registration (or immediate eligibility to register) with the Scottish Social Services Council.
  • Key Skills: Excellent written and oral communication, sound budget handling abilities, and the resilience to manage challenging situations under pressure.
  • Background Check: To join the PVG Scheme or to have your membership updated.

Benefits

Employee benefits include:

  • 33 days leave (including public holidays) rising to 38 days after five years’ service.
  • An enhanced pension scheme.
  • Free life cover.
  • Free access to counselling and wellbeing services.
  • Support for training and professional development.

Enable Glasgow strives to apply equal opportunities and diversities principles to all aspects of its work.

All successful candidates are required to join the PVG Scheme (or to have their membership updated).
