As a Trustee, you will help guide and support this important work, contributing to the strategic leadership and governance of an organisation that makes a real difference to people's lives every day. As we embark on an exciting new strategic phase, we are looking for people who are passionate about our cause and we welcome applications from both experienced Trustees and individuals new to Board roles who can demonstrate the judgement, confidence and strategic perspective required of charity Trustees.

We welcome applications from people with lived experience of being affected by crime, and we are also looking to increase the diversity of Board members. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, and communities to apply for Trustee positions, as we believe that a diverse board enhances our ability to provide effective support to victims, representative of our communities.

We are particularly interested in applicants who bring strength in one or more of the following areas:

• Strategic development and organisational transformation – including shaping, delivering or governing strategy in complex or changing environments.

• Organisational sustainability – including income diversification, partnership working, or long term financial viability.

• Criminal justice system experience – policy, practice or leadership experience within justice, statutory or related public services impacting victims and witnesses.

• Charity governance and board leadership – experience as a trustee, non executive, committee chair or senior leader with a strong understanding of good governance.

By joining the Board at this point, Trustees will help shape Victim Support Scotland’s next chapter and contribute to strong, sustainable governance that supports victims and witnesses across Scotland for years to come.

Make a real difference to people living with dementia and their families.

STAND is a Fife charity led by people with lived experience of dementia. We believe that life doesn’t stop with a diagnosis — people can continue to grow, connect and enjoy new experiences. Nine trustees currently sit on STAND's Board of Trustees and, as a peer-led charity, three (including the Chairperson) live with dementia, three are/were carers and three have professional backgrounds.

We are currently seeking the following new Trustees to share with us their experience, talents, and passions:

• Trustee Secretary (further details attached)
• Trustee (ideally with experience in fundraising, but experience in campaigning, marketing, HR, creative pursuits or digital technology would also be beneficial).

Insight or personal experience of dementia or caring responsibilities would be an advantage. The STAND team is friendly and supportive, and you will be working with the charity's Development Lead and Administration Officer alongside trustees, volunteers, staff and members of the charity.

The Board of Trustees currently convenes every six weeks (usually from 2.00pm – 3.30pm), with the AGM in the autumn. Office Bearers and senior staff meetings usually take place quarterly. Most meetings are held in Kirkcaldy and travel expenses are reimbursed up to 30 miles from Kirkcaldy. Rarely, an additional Extraordinary General Meeting of the Board may take place.

Between meetings, it will be necessary to work remotely.

Beacon Arts Centre is looking for several new Trustees to join our Board and help guide the organisation through its next stage of development.

Based on Greenock’s waterfront, the Beacon is Inverclyde’s largest arts venue. We present a year-round programme of theatre, music, comedy, dance, exhibitions and festivals, alongside extensive creative engagement work with local communities. Our mission is to light up lives by making the arts accessible to all.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the strategic leadership of a significant Scottish arts charity, support artists and communities, and help ensure that the Beacon remains ambitious, inclusive and financially sustainable.

The role

Our Trustees work collectively to:

• Set the Beacon’s strategic direction
• Ensure good governance, financial stability and legal compliance
• Scrutinise plans, budgets, risks and performance
• Support the Co-Directors
• Safeguard the organisation’s reputation, values and assets
• Act as ambassadors for the Beacon and its work

Trustees operate in a non-executive capacity. Day-to-day management is the responsibility of the Co-Directors and staff team.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for people who believe in the value of arts and culture and who can bring curiosity, sound judgement, strategic thinking and a willingness to contribute.

Previous Board experience is not required. We welcome first-time Trustees and people who may not have previously considered joining a charity Board. Full induction, training and ongoing support will be provided.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Business, finance or accounting
• Legal practice
• Marketing, communications, PR or audience development
• Fundraising, sponsorship or income generation
• Human resources, organisational development or change management

No individual is expected to bring all these skills. We are equally interested in people whose professional, community or lived experience could bring a valuable new perspective to our discussions.

A Board that reflects our communities

Time commitment

Trustees are normally appointed for a three-year term, with the option of one further term.

The expected commitment includes:

• Approximately four Board meetings each year
• Possible membership of a Board committee
• Occasional strategy sessions or recruitment panels
• Attendance at Beacon performances and events where possible

Meetings are normally held in Greenock, with online attendance available.

This is a voluntary role. Reasonable travel, childcare and carer expenses will be reimbursed.
