Casework Task: Glasgow Southside Constituency

Part 1: Triage and Prioritisation

Below are summaries of three emails received in Holly Bruce MSP’s inbox this morning.

  1. Rank these cases in order of urgency (1 = Highest, 3 = Lowest).
  1. Provide a brief 1-2 sentence justification for your ranking, identifying if the issue is a devolved or reserved matter and who needs to be contacted.
  • Inquiry A (Resident in Pollokshields): A local community group is requesting that Holly attend their litter pick this weekend and write to Glasgow City Council to demand more neighbourhood bin hubs and better street lighting to improve safety for women walking home at night.
  • Inquiry B (Resident in Govanhill): A private tenant reports that their landlord is threatening immediate illegal eviction after they complained about a 20% rent hike and severe damp/mould in the flat. The tenant has two young children.
  • Inquiry C (Resident in Langside): A constituent is concerned about recent changes to their Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessment handled by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and wants Holly Bruce MSP to advocate on their behalf.

Part 2: Drafting a Response

On any of the inquiries above, draft a compassionate, supportive response to the resident. Your response should:

  • Validate their stressful situation.
  • Clearly outline the immediate steps they should take.
  • Explain what Holly Bruce MSP’s office can do to intervene.
