Glasgow Women’s Aid provides information, support and temporary accommodation for women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. We have refuge accommodation, follow on services and outreach services both for women and children across Glasgow.

The purpose of this role is to provide therapeutic support to women experiencing domestic abuse, during their stay in refuge and as they move out into the community. This will involve providing innovative and creative 1-1 and group work support. You will provide person centred support to women as they move through their journey and will advocate to make sure that women’s voices are heard and their needs are met.

It is essential that you have experience of providing support to women who have experienced gender-based violence. A suitable qualification that meets with SSSC Housing Support registration is also required (examples would be HNC Social Services or SVQ Level 3 Social Services and Healthcare). The nature of our work requires a commitment to the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and to the values of Glasgow Women’s Aid. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that you have a driving license and access to a car.

We’re looking for a dynamic connector and collaborator. In this role, you’ll be the vital link between Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and our partner organisations, working together to support people living with our conditions.

You’ll champion community based initiatives, such as the Cheyne Gang respiratory singing groups and build strong relationships that amplify our reach and impact.

What you’ll do:

• Coordinate and provide light-touch support to local services, ensuring smooth referral processes and accurate data management.
• Promote local activities as part of our supported self-management offer, helping people live their best lives.
• Support and coordinate volunteer activity, including hybrid groups like our Long Covid online group, making sure volunteers and participants feel engaged, supported, and empowered to make a positive difference.

You will be part of Scotland’s leading health charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live life to the full again. Our Community Healthcare Support Service provides access to a range of supported self management and community recovery services to support people across Scotland to manage their health as well as possible and adjust to life after a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or after a stroke.

About Urban Roots

Urban Roots is a community-led environmental and health improvement charity based in the Southside of Glasgow. For over ten years we have worked alongside local residents and volunteers to establish and support a network of community gardens and woodlands. We also deliver healthy cooking programmes and outdoor learning and play activities for children and young people.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and organised Volunteer Coordinator to lead on the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of volunteers across our community and environmental projects.

You will be responsible for managing volunteer enquiries, promoting volunteering opportunities, ensuring best practice in volunteer involvement, and supporting colleagues to work effectively with volunteers to deliver high-quality, inclusive programmes.

Strong experience in volunteer coordination is essential. Experience of working in the third sector and/or an interest in environmental or community-based work is highly desirable.
