About the role

As the Principal Mobility Planner, you will lead Sustrans Scotland’s Transport Planning function to support the effective delivery of programmes and act as a senior influencer in active travel across Scotland.

You will have responsibility for leading the Transport Planning function, providing services across the range of programmes and projects Sustrans delivers. You will lead the delivery of active travel & integrated transport planning strategies and steer for capital projects, services and programmes across Sustrans Scotland and for the National Cycle Network forward planning, while providing up to date technical knowledge and advice on best practice within the sector to colleagues and other partners.

Responsible for setting the operational function and best practice, you will ensure prioritisation and allocation of resources to deliver projects against a range of financial and performance targets set in conjunction with our clients.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake work on behalf of Sustrans. You will work from a Sustrans office in Edinburgh or Glasgow with the flexibility to work from home.

About you

You will have a transportation and/or planning background (disciplines such as but not limited to town planning/city planning/transport planning) allowing you to develop a strategic action plan to deliver and support coherent and strategic network planning for active travel in Scotland. You should have proven experience of working on a diverse and complex range of design projects, considering place and movement functions alongside interactions of vehicular traffic.

You should have demonstrable experience of leading, motivating and managing a multi-functional team.

Your communication skills must be finely honed, allowing you to effectively communicate and build good relationships with colleagues, representatives from central and local government, active travel delivery partners, communities, Transport Scotland and other key stakeholders.

Inverclyde Community Development Trust delivers targeted projects to support the most vulnerable across Inverclyde, supporting families and individuals experiencing challenging circumstances. Through this project, the Energy Advisor will deliver energy advice to our clients, individuals and families in vulnerable situations, who are referred to the programme by our local partners. The Advisor will ensure that the most vulnerable households across Inverclyde can access impartial energy advice, advocacy and support; aiming to empower those facing economic hardships, discrimination, health inequalities or long-term unemployment. The Advisor will ensure that support and guidance is available for these groups to navigate energy related challenges effectively, to reduce fuel poverty and fuel fear across Inverclyde.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Energy

Responsible for:

• Provide advice and information to individuals (in person or via telephone) on energy saving methods, including energy grants and rebates, meter issues, switching providers
• Undertake negotiations with energy suppliers regarding debts and repayments
• Refer appropriate households to Home Energy Scotland to access national and local schemes for energy efficiency measures to make homes warmer. This will include homeowners and private tenants
• Deliver weekly drop-in sessions across the Trust’s Community Pantries, as well as partner venues and local Community Hubs
• Provide one-to-one appointments at suitable locations across local venues
• Deliver workshops focused on energy literacy and energy consumer rights
• Attend events to provide information and advice as appropriate

2. Working relationships

Responsible for:

• Work with volunteers within the Trust Pantries and Trust Befriending Projects to create Energy Champions, providing appropriate training and support
• Create connections with local partners, including Housing Associations and Community Link Workers
• Promote project via Trust social platforms, Inverclyde Now and the Local Authority’s Financial Inclusion Partnership and local partners

3. Reporting

Responsible for:

• Accurately input case records via Trust database systems for the purposes of monitoring and reviewing statistical information
• Provide Reports as required for Trust Board and Funder in line with funding requirements

4. Other Duties

Responsible for:

• Undertaking City & Guilds Level 3 training as a requirement of the post
• Occasional home visits may be required if deemed necessary
• Keep up to date with changes in Legislation and Policy relating to the role and service needs.
• To undertake any other relevant duties within the overall scope of this post as may be required by the line manager

This is an exciting role within Lambhill Stables Community Hub. The purpose of the job will be to supervise the kitchen and work alongside a team of dedicated volunteers with various capabilities to deliver our existing menu of café staples and develop exciting seasonal dishes, utilising veg from our community garden.

It is expected that the Kitchen Manager will take responsibility for all aspects of co-ordinating a Community Café, in collaboration with our longstanding Kitchen Supervisor, our Kitchen Assistant and volunteers. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards at all times in cleanliness, organisation and food quality and must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and demonstrate leadership in order to motivate others. This job will be expected to contribute to our funded outcomes as follows:

• To maintain our excellent community reputation by providing a high quality, customer focused service.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Managing all aspects of the Café including:

• Effectively leading the development of others, including work relationships.
• Working with and supporting our longstanding Kitchen Supervisor.
• Delegating daily tasks and holding the team accountable for those tasks.
• Arranging Community Café events and hosting study visits.
• Organising work schedules and rotas.
• Co-ordinating volunteers and school aged trainees.
• Managing sessional cooks.
• Organising delivery of cookery classes and demonstrations including “Healthy Eating” and “Eating on a Budget”.
• Menu planning and food purchasing, including making best use of garden produce.
• Developing staff and volunteers through training.
• Controlling a budget and maintaining accurate records.

• Managing and monitoring Health and Safety procedures, ensuring consistent and accurate records are kept for temperature logs and critical control points.
• Minimising and monitoring waste.

We are recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our Children & Families Mentoring programme. We support care experienced young people aged 8-14 years across Glasgow and North Lanarkshire, our mentoring programme enables young people to have time away from home where they can gain confidence, learn new skills and talk to a trusted adult.

The Volunteer Coordinator will have responsibility for recruitment, training and day to day supervision of volunteer mentors, the ongoing support of mentor and mentee matches and the provision of additional supports to mentee’s families as and when required. The post holder will also support the Service Manager with the ongoing promotion and development of the programme.

The role is mainly working in the community in the Glasgow area or working from home in agreement with the line manager. It is expected that you will be in the office at Dava Street, Govan from time to time for meetings. What you can expect from us

We value our staff as our greatest asset and will provide the following working conditions:

• The post holder will report to the Service Manager.
• Your normal working hours are an average of 35 per week. These hours are usually worked Monday to Friday, and flexibly between the hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm, with one-hour unpaid break. Variations to these hours must be agreed with your line manager. Flexibility is required to work some evening and weekends to reflect the needs of the people we support.
• Your usual place of work will be 15 Dava Street, Glasgow, G51 2JA.
• You are also required to work in the local community, and you will be paid travel expenses between your usual place of work and appointments undertaken in the course of your duties. Alternatively, you may choose to work remotely from your home address where appropriate. Working arrangements are in agreement with your line manager based on the needs of the service.
