This role is key to continuing to raise the external profile of our education work in Scotland and amplify awareness of the lived experience of unpaid carers in education to make positive change.
The successful candidate will support us to speak truth to power, ensuring unpaid carers' voices are heard through public policy development and influencing work. And will become an expert in the key issues facing unpaid carers in education.
The post holder will work closely with the Programme Officer (Education) in Scotland to deliver successful results for Carers Trust Scotland's Supporting Student Carers to Excel and Caring is Learning initiatives.
We are looking for someone who will put unpaid carer voice at the heart of our policy and external affairs education work in Scotland.

About the Role
The Children and Young People Practitioner will work across Glasgow schools and communities to build the mental health knowledge and skills of children, young people, parents, carers, volunteers and staff through mental health capacity building workshops, training programmes, information sessions and resources.
Delivery will also include individual and group work support to young people who are experiencing low mood and anxiety.
What we are looking for
We are looking for individuals with experience delivering individual support and group work to young people around their mental health and wellbeing. They will also be experienced in workshop facilitation, training delivery and development.
With exceptional communication skills and ability to manage own case load, the Children and Young People Practitioner will work flexibly to deliver the wide range of programmes on offer, whilst ensuring practice is of the highest quality at all times.
A driving licence and access to a car is essential for this post.

We are looking to recruit a number of full and part-time Young Carer Support Workers with relevant qualifications and experience of supporting Carers aged 5 – 25, in education and/or the community.
Founded by Carers in 1998 Capital Carers is a highly regarded charity providing carer support to unpaid carers of all ages. Our Ethos is to provide unpaid carers with a range of high quality support services which enable them to have some normality of life whilst carrying out their caring role. Our Vision is that all carers get the help and support they need to sustain their caring role. We are in the 4th year of a projected eight year contract to deliver appropriate support services to young carers in schools, colleges and the community in the North West Locality of Edinburgh.
You will work flexibly, to include some early evening and occasional weekend working. An element of working from home is envisaged.
