Role

Are you passionate about bringing people together and the power of communities? Do you believe everyone has the right to have something to eat and someone to eat with?

If so, you could be the new lead for our community lunch!

About the service

Golden Years supports people aged 60+ to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation, and improve overall wellbeing. We offer a range of services to offer holistic support to our clients. One of our projects is our Community Lunch Club. The lunch club offers all attendees a free 2 course meal, along with the opportunity to meet new people, and find out more about what is happening in the local community.

About the role

This role takes the lead on coordinating our Community Lunch Club, which runs from Heart of Newhaven every Monday. As a Community Groupworker you will:

  • Coordinate activities and information sessions which run alongside the lunch club.
  • Provide support and guidance to our lunch club volunteers
  • Work in partnership with Heart of Newhaven and other relevant organisations.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, with experience of working with older people. You’ll be passionate about supporting people to build connections and have experience supporting volunteers. You should also be:

  • Great at building relationships, with individuals and organisations
  • An experienced group facilitator
  • An excellent multi-tasker and creative problem solver
  • Able to demonstrate our values of compassion, respect, integrity, and innovation in your work

How we’ll support you

This role will be fully supported by the Golden Years Manager and wider team. You will be given full training on all aspects of your role. You’ll also have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.
