To lead the provision of relationship-based support delivered to young people and families in the community and to promote positive outcomes in line with the values and principles of includem.

Purpose & Context of Role

The postholder will manage their own caseload ensuring support plans are developed with the young person to respond to their individual needs and supporting them to improve outcomes in line with GIRFEC principles and includem’s model of support.

A project worker will demonstrate leadership and ownership over effective service delivery to young people by managing outcomes for young people through use of line managers, colleagues and organisational tools, processes, policies, and procedures.

The key responsibilities of the Project Worker include, but are not limited to:

Service Delivery

• To build relationships and deliver outcome-based support to young people and families, involving all key stakeholders.
• To be available for young people and families at critical times
• To explore values and attitudes with young people in a supportive manner, to affirm and validate their feelings and ideas, and nurture and confirm their learning.
• To ensure a focus on regular and appropriate case progression to help young people and families recognise progress.
• To assess and respond appropriately to situations where young people and/or families may be at risk of harm.
• To support with crisis management and generate solutions for young people and families using the Helpline, with risk enablement being at the heart of professional judgement and decision making.

People

• To understand the different coping mechanisms that young people and their families use to deal with stress and high emotions, and to respond appropriately.
• To demonstrate professional resilience when providing support with sensitive or challenging issues
• To use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals facing adversity to find solutions and make positive changes, ensuring resources are in place to sustain these changes.
• To establish mutually trusting, open and non-judgemental relationship with young people and their families
• To encourage and lead collaborative team work to provide a ‘scaffolding of support’ around each young person and their family.
• To respect and value the contribution of wider stakeholders and the delivery of includem services.
• Where opportunity allows experience of directing, supporting, and mentoring Assistant Project Workers/Sessional staff.

This role is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and managing operational activities and service delivery for Bikes for Refugees (Scotland) and its two community Hubs in the West and East of Scotland. Supported by the CEO and the board of trustees, you will work on a variety of tasks and projects, including staff management, support and supervision; volunteer co-ordination and support; risk management; health & safety; implementation of policy and procedures; recruitment and induction; supporting the monitoring of expenditure and budgets; providing reports; project monitoring and evaluation; partnership working, and engaging with refugees and asylum seekers in the delivery of activities.

The post holder will be expected to maintain an excellent working knowledge of Bikes for Refugees (Scotland) programmes, policies, systems and procedures, particularly in relation to health and safety as the designated H&S officer.

You will maintain good working relationships with a variety of external stakeholders and partners.

You will be expected to travel between community hubs (Glasgow and Edinburgh) on a regular basis in the management and support of staff, overseeing of health and safety, and implementation and monitoring of activities. As Glasgow is our largest community hub with staffing, volunteers and demand for bikes you will be expected to be based in Glasgow at least 3 to 4 days per week.

WorkingRite seeks to stop the cycle of deprivation and poverty that occur in so many communities across Scotland. We do this through our award-winning, youth employability programme, which sees practical work skills coupled with personal development, strengthened through a mentored work placement with a small, local business of the young person’s choice. This exciting role will support young people from different secondary schools across Glasgow to prepare for employment when they leave school. By delivering WorkingRite’s in-school model, Rite to Work, this post will work will support the delivery of small groups of young people in their last year at school to gain the confidence and skills they need to progress into jobs, apprenticeships or further vocational learning – or gain further support with WorkingRite’s post-16 work experience programme in local businesses. We are recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our Children & Families Mentoring programme. We support care experienced young people aged 8-14 years across Glasgow and North Lanarkshire, our mentoring programme enables young people to have time away from home where they can gain confidence, learn new skills and talk to a trusted adult.

This is a part time role working 17.5 hours per week, the Volunteer Coordinator will have responsibility for recruitment, training and day to day supervision of volunteer mentors, the ongoing support of mentor and mentee matches and the provision of additional supports to mentee’s families as and when required. The post holder will also support the Service Manager with the ongoing promotion and development of the programme.

The role is mainly working in the community in the Glasgow area or working from home in agreement with the line manager. It is expected that you will be in the office at Dava Street, Govan from time to time for meetings.

• Ensuring the needs of the people we support are being met and signposting to relevant services where more support is required.
• Attend multi agency meetings as required and advocating on behalf of the people we support.
• Ensure that adequate safeguarding measures are in place for both mentors & mentees and participation in an On Call rota system as required.
• Contribute towards the design, delivery and evaluation of our programmes. Ensuring we are adopting a co-produced approach where possible.

What you can expect from us

• The post holder will report to the Service Manager.
• Your normal working hours are an average of 17.5 per week. These hours are usually worked Monday to Friday, and flexibly between the hours of 8.00am to 6.00pm, with one-hour unpaid break. Variations to these hours must be agreed with your line manager.
• Your usual place of work will be 15 Dava Street, Glasgow, G51 2JA.
• You are also required to work in the local community, and you will be paid travel expenses between your usual place of work and appointments undertaken in the course of your duties.
